How Did Rabcat Begin?
Rabcat was founded in Vienna in October 2001, initially producing premium game art for console titles rather than casino content. Its early client list reads like a who’s who of triple-A gaming, including Atari, Rockstar Games, Microsoft Game Studios, Disney Interactive Studios, Climax, and Deep Silver, work that shaped the cinematic quality still visible in its slots today.
Rabcat’s move into iGaming began in November 2011, when the studio signed an agreement with Playtech’s Enhanced Gaming Engine (EdGE) to help integrate its games onto a casino platform. By 2012, Rabcat had also begun working with Quickfire and Odobo, and partnered with Microgaming as a Quickfire content provider. That relationship deepened in November 2014 with a supplier contract that made Microgaming the exclusive distributor of select Rabcat titles, and the first Rabcat games went live on Microgaming casinos in January 2015. Castle Builder led that launch, introducing the level-based slot format that became one of Rabcat’s signature mechanics.
