How Did Quickspin Begin?

Three industry veterans founded Quickspin in 2011. Daniel Lindberg became the chief executive. Mats Westerlund and Joachim Timmermans joined him as co-founders.

The founders brought many years of experience from the online gaming business. Lindberg spent five years at NetEnt, where he worked in sales and product management. Westerlund headed design at NetEnt. Timmermans worked with the Unibet casino group.

That experience gave the studio a strong start. The leadership team knew how casinos choose games and what players enjoy.

The Playtech Takeover

Playtech announced its purchase of Quickspin on 24 May 2016. The deal had a maximum value of €50 million. Playtech paid €24 million at the start, and the rest depended on Quickspin’s earnings in 2017 and 2018.

At the time, Quickspin had more than 20 games and about 40 industry clients. The founders agreed to stay in charge for at least three years.

Today Quickspin still builds slots under its own name. Its games sit alongside the wider Playtech catalogue. As a result, many Playtech casinos carry Quickspin titles.

Popular Quickspin Slots

Quickspin has a deep catalogue. These are some of its best known titles.

Big Bad Wolf

Big Bad Wolf is the studio’s signature game. It came out in 2013 and won Game of the Year at the EGR Operator Awards. Swooping Reels and Pigs Turn Wild drive the action. Read our full Big Bad Wolf slot review for the details.

Goldilocks and the Wild Bears

This fairy tale slot flips the classic story. We cover its bears, its wilds and its bonus in our Goldilocks and the Wild Bears review.

Wild Luchador

Wild Luchador is all about Mexican wrestling. It has 5 reels and 3 rows, with a total of 243 ways to win. Up to five Luchador wilds can strike random reels on any spin. They are stacked wilds that fill the whole reel they land on.

Wilds substitute for every symbol except the Death Clock scatters. Land three or more of those, and you win free spins with a multiplier.

Guardian of Athens

Guardian of Athens has a Greek theme on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 paylines. Its gameplay is similar to the studio’s 2018 slot Eastern Emeralds.

Shield wilds appear on all reels. They hold multipliers that can reach 5x, and when several land on one payline, they multiply each other.

Golden Glyph 2

Golden Glyph 2 is the sequel to Quickspin’s first ancient Egypt game. Like the original, it is a cluster slot on a 7×7 grid. Form a cluster of five or more matching symbols, and they disappear.

A Power Glyph stays behind. It acts as a wild, and removing it activates the next power-up on the tracker bar. There are seven power-ups in total, including golden scarabs and Patterns of Horus.

The series also includes Ghost Glyph, a spooky take on the same idea.

More New Slots

Blue Fortune takes you under the sea. Drowned pirates fill the 5 reels and 3 rows, and they form 9 paylines. Tentacles lock winning symbols in place, and the other reels respin.

Sticky Bandits 3 Most Wanted is the third game in the Sticky Bandits series. It has a Wild West theme and five bandit characters acting as wilds. Three or more safe scatters give 12 free spins with a 2x multiplier, and the wilds stick in place.

Crown of Valor is a cluster slot with a medieval war theme. Winning clusters disappear, and new symbols tumble down. Get 18 tumbles to activate Wild Fire, which adds four burning wilds to the grid.

Fans of Norse tales can also try Beowulf, which retells the old English legend.

The Big Bad Wolf Family

Big Bad Wolf has grown into a whole series. Big Bad Wolf Megaways uses the Megaways reel system. There is also a Christmas Special and Pigs of Steel. Big Bad Wolf Live is a live game show version.

Quickspin launched Quickspin Live in 2023, with Big Bad Wolf Live as its first product. Playtech supplies the live casino technology. If you like Megaways games, browse our guide to Megaways slots.

What Awards Has Quickspin Won?

  • Rising Star Award in 2012
  • Game of the Year for the Big Bad Wolf video slot in 2013
  • Mobile Gaming Software and Social Gaming Supplier at the 2014 EGR B2B Awards
  • Innovation in RNG Casino Software at the 2015 and 2016 EGR B2B Awards

With such strong game development and dedication to service, Quickspin has become a respected name in the industry.

What Type of Slots Does Quickspin Offer?

Quickspin offers a high quality portfolio of video slots. The games range from retro to futuristic. Most of them focus on big story adventures with thrilling bonuses.

Watch the characters and their worlds come alive on screen. Every game has different features and strong graphics. Popular titles include Big Bad Wolf, Ghost Glyph, Beowulf and Goldilocks and the Wild Bears.

Special Quickspin Features

  • Quickspin Promote: a mix of flexible free rounds or a feature trigger on a favourite slot.
  • Quickspin Challenges: a mini game on top of the slot. You guide a character through a maze for a prize.
  • Autoplay: spins the reels for a set number of rounds.
  • Fast Play: lets the reels spin at very high speed.

These tools keep the games fresh. Casinos can run promotions without building their own, and players get extra fun on top of the base slot.

RTP in Quickspin Slots

Quickspin games average about 95.5% to 97% in return to player. That sits close to the industry average, and sometimes slightly above it.

Casinos can often choose between several RTP settings. Big Bad Wolf, for example, comes in 97% and 90% versions. Always check the help screen before you play.

For more on the term, read our guide to RTP and online slots. You can also browse our list of best paying slots.

Does Quickspin Offer a Progressive Jackpot?

No. Quickspin made a considered decision not to create progressive jackpot games. The studio believes progressive slots offer an unfair RTP to players. It also thinks the RTP can look inaccurate because of the huge jackpot.

As a result, every Quickspin slot pays only from its own features and paytable. Players who want life changing jackpots will need to look at other studios. Players who prefer clear, fair rules will like the approach.

Does Quickspin Have a Mobile Platform?

Quickspin’s games work on mobile devices. The latest releases run on Android, iOS and tablets. The slots fit small screens well and respond to touch controls.

You can play in your browser, so there is nothing to download. Controls are simple, and the art stays sharp.

Lucky Block Casino lists Quickspin games in its library. Always check a casino’s licence before you deposit.

Where Quickspin Fits in the Slot World

Quickspin has built its name on strong characters and clear features. It rarely copies the latest trend. Instead, it improves ideas like cascades and sticky wilds and adds its own twist.

Quality is the point. The studio hopes its slots keep players happy. That way, there is no need to look elsewhere for online slot entertainment.

Tips for Playing Quickspin Slots

  • Check the RTP in the help screen before you play.
  • Pick a stake that gives you at least 150 spins.
  • Try a demo first if the casino offers one.
  • Set a loss limit before you start.
  • Take regular breaks.

No tip changes the odds. Each spin is random, and past results never affect the next one. Treat play as entertainment.

Pros and Cons

Pros Cons
Slots only, with high quality art No table games or progressive jackpots
Strong story style themes Casinos may run lower RTP versions
Award winning classics like Big Bad Wolf Some features copy each other across games
Mobile friendly games Not every casino carries the full range
Topboss Group verdict: Quickspin is a focused, quality studio. Its slots look great, play smoothly and use clear features. The lack of progressive jackpots will not suit everyone. Even so, titles like Big Bad Wolf show why it has such a loyal following.
