Nikola Tesla’s Incredible Machine Overview
Nikola Tesla’s Incredible Machine is an electrifying slot from Rabcat, released by Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil launched it in September 2019 as part of its YGS Masters programme. That programme partners Yggdrasil with independent studios to bring their games to market.
The slot is set in the workshop of the genius inventor Nikola Tesla. He bustles around a factory full of moving machinery, fixing his latest invention. The reels themselves form part of his incredible machine.
The game plays on 5 reels and 3 rows, with 25 paylines. Its standout feature is the Energy Burst, which can turn into exploding wilds, reel clones or a wild substitution.

Who Was Nikola Tesla?
Nikola Tesla was a brilliant inventor and engineer. He’s best known for his work on alternating current, the type of electricity that powers our homes today.
Tesla was famous for his bold ideas and dramatic experiments. That larger-than-life personality makes him a perfect hero for a slot full of sparks and machines.
Theme and Design
Yggdrasil’s press release describes the setting as a wondrous warehouse packed with moving machinery. The reels stand proud in the middle of it all. Tesla moves around the screen, fixing his ground-breaking invention.
Our original review described the backdrop as a gloomy laboratory on the top floor. The music is full of mystery. When the reels spin, they sound like a machine whirring into life.
About YGS Masters
YGS Masters is Yggdrasil’s invitation-only programme for independent studios. Yggdrasil’s press release says it partners with talented studios to develop and distribute their games, using its own technology.
Rabcat was one of the studios in the programme. That’s why this game carries both names.
Betting and RTP
Our original review listed bets from $0.25 to $75 per spin. The highest coin value was $3.
The RTP was listed at 96.20%, with medium volatility. We couldn’t confirm these figures with Yggdrasil, as the game’s page is no longer online. Check the help screen at your casino.
Symbols and Paytable
The top-paying symbols are the stopwatch and the Tesla wild. Other symbols include gauges, capacitors and safety goggles. The lower-paying symbols are A, J, K and Q, designed to look like machine parts.
Our original review listed these payouts for five symbols on a payline:
| Symbol | 5 on a payline (original review) |
|---|---|
| Tesla wild | 40x your stake |
| Stopwatch | 40x your stake |
| Goggles | 20x your stake |
| Capacitor | 4x your stake |
| Card symbols | 0.4x to 2x your stake |
The Tesla Wild
Nikola Tesla himself is the wild symbol. He substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. He also pays well on his own, with five on a line matching the stopwatch’s top prize.
The Energy Burst Feature
The Energy Burst is the game’s main base game feature. Yggdrasil’s press release says it can turn into one of three effects.
Our original review said it triggers when a regular symbol lands fully stacked. High-value symbols award 5 bonus spins, and low-value symbols award 3. During those spins, one of three random extras is unlocked:
| Extra | What it does |
|---|---|
| Wild Substitution | A regular symbol acts as a wild |
| Reel Clone | Three reels land identical symbols |
| Exploding Wild | 2 or 3 symbols turn into sticky wilds |
Our original review listed three possible Reel Clone sets. These were reels 1, 2 and 4, reels 1, 3 and 4, or reels 2, 3 and 4.
Free Spins with Locked Wilds
Land 3 or more scatters on the same spin to trigger the free spins. Our original review said you’ll receive 8, 10 or 12 free spins, depending on how many scatters you land.
A wild locks in the centre of reel 3 at the start of the round. Every time you land a Level Up symbol, another wild is added next to it. You can build up to 5 locked wilds.
There’s another bonus in the free spins. Our original review said wins pay both ways during the round. That means wins can run from left to right or right to left.
