Dice Twister Overview
Dice Twister is a quick-fire dice game from Playtech, found in the arcade section of Playtech-powered casinos. The idea is simple. Three standard dice are rolled, and you bet on what they will show.
The game is closely related to Sic Bo, the ancient Chinese dice game. You can bet on the total of all three dice, on a range of totals, on odd and even numbers, or on a single number. Each bet has fixed odds, so you always know what you could win before you roll.
Dice Twister is a nice break from slots and card games. There are no reels, no paylines and no bonus rounds to learn. We refreshed this review in October 2026, and we have corrected several payout details from our older version along the way.

How Dice Twister Works
The game screen shows three large red dice in the middle. Around them sit the different betting areas. On one side, you will find the totals from 4 to 17. On the other side are the range bets, odd and even bets, and the single number bets.
You place chips on one or more areas using the plus and minus buttons. Then you press Spin, and the three dice roll. Any winning bets are paid straight away, and the next round can begin.
Interestingly, Dice Twister’s maths was designed with help from gaming mathematician Michael Shackleford, better known as the Wizard of Odds. Playtech hired him to help design its arcade games. As a result, the odds are clearly set out and easy to check.
Dice games have a very long history. If you’re curious how they made the jump to the screen, our article on the rise of digital dice tells the story.
How to Play Dice Twister
Dice Twister takes less than a minute to learn. Follow these simple steps.
- Pick your bets: choose one or more betting areas on the table.
- Set your stake: use the plus and minus buttons in each area.
- Roll the dice: press Spin to throw all three dice at once.
- Check your wins: winning bets are paid automatically.
- Repeat or clear: keep the same bets or clear the table and start again.
You can cover several outcomes in one roll. For example, you could back a total of 10 and also bet on Mid. Just remember that each extra bet adds to your total stake.
Dice Twister Betting Range
Stakes are placed separately on each betting area. Our older review listed a range of 0.20 to 100.00 per area. Other versions we have seen use slightly different minimums, and some ask for a minimum total stake per roll.
For that reason, check the limits shown in the game at your casino before you start. Because you can spread chips across several areas, the game suits both small and larger budgets.
Dice Twister Payouts
One important detail is how Dice Twister pays. The odds are shown on a “for 1” basis, not “to 1”. In other words, your stake is included in the payout. So a bet that pays 70 for 1 returns 70 in total for every 1 you bet, which is a profit of 69.
Our older review listed these odds as “to 1”, which made them look slightly bigger than they are. We have also corrected the Low, Mid and High payouts, which were the wrong way round. Here is the full, corrected payout table.
| Bet | Pays (for 1) | RTP |
|---|---|---|
| Total of 4 or 17 | 70 | 97.22% |
| Total of 5 or 16 | 35 | 97.22% |
| Total of 6 or 15 | 21 | 97.22% |
| Total of 7 or 14 | 14 | 97.22% |
| Total of 8 or 13 | 10 | 97.22% |
| Total of 9 or 12 | 8.25 | 95.49% |
| Total of 10 or 11 | 7.75 | 96.88% |
| Low (3 to 8) | 3.75 | 97.22% |
| Mid (9 to 12) | 2 | 96.30% |
| High (13 to 18) | 3.75 | 97.22% |
| All odd | 7.75 | 96.88% |
| All even | 7.75 | 96.88% |
| Odd/even mix | 1.25 | 93.75% |
Total Bets
With a total bet, you predict the exact sum of all three dice. You can choose any total from 4 to 17. Totals of 3 and 18 are not offered as separate bets, as they can only happen when all three dice show 1 or all show 6.
The rarer the total, the bigger the payout. A total of 4 or 17 is the hardest to hit, so it pays the most at 70 for 1. For example, a bet of 10 on 17 would return 700 if it lands.
Low, Mid and High
These bets cover a range of totals instead of a single number. Low covers totals from 3 to 8, and High covers 13 to 18. Both pay 3.75 for 1.
Mid covers the middle totals from 9 to 12. Because these totals come up far more often, Mid only pays 2 for 1. Even so, it wins almost half the time, which makes it a steady, lower-risk choice.
Odd, Even and Mix
Here you bet on whether the three dice show only odd numbers, only even numbers, or a mix. All Odd and All Even each pay 7.75 for 1.
The Mix bet wins whenever the dice show both odd and even numbers. That happens three times out of four, so it pays just 1.25 for 1. It also has the lowest RTP in the game.
Single Number Bets
Finally, you can bet on any number from 1 to 6. You win if that number appears on at least one of the dice. The more dice that show your number, the more you win.
| Dice showing your number | Pays (for 1) |
|---|---|
| One die | 2 |
| Two dice | 3 |
| All three dice | 15 |
Single number bets have an overall RTP of 97.22%, matching the best bets on the table.
RTP and House Edge
Our older review gave Dice Twister an “average” RTP of 97.22%. In fact, 97.22% is the best RTP available, and only some bets offer it. The return ranges from 93.75% on the Mix bet up to 97.22% on the best options.
Topboss Group tip: if you want the best value, stick to the 97.22% bets. These include Low, High, single numbers and the totals from 4 to 8 and 13 to 17. Skip the Mix bet, which has the weakest return.
In practice, this means the house edge ranges from about 2.8% to 6.25%. For comparison, that is better than many slots but worse than some table games played with good strategy.
Of course, RTP is a long-term average. In any one session, the dice can land anywhere. If you’d like to understand how these numbers work, see our guide to RTP explained.
Dice Twister vs Sic Bo vs Craps
Dice Twister is often compared with two classic casino dice games. Here is how they differ.
| Feature | Dice Twister | Sic Bo | Craps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Number of dice | 3 | 3 | 2 |
| Difficulty | Very easy | Easy to moderate | More complex |
| Triple and pair bets | No | Yes | Not applicable |
| Rounds | One roll per bet | One roll per bet | Some bets last several rolls |
In short, Dice Twister is a simplified, beginner-friendly cousin of Sic Bo. It drops the trickier triple and pair bets but keeps the fun of guessing the roll. Craps, by contrast, has many more bet types and some bets that carry over several rolls. If you’d like to try it, read our guide to playing craps online.
Is There a Dice Twister Strategy?
Every roll is random, so no system can predict the result. Past rolls don’t affect future ones either. Even so, you can make smarter choices about which bets you place.
First, favour the bets with the highest RTP, as listed above. Second, decide how much risk you want. Mid wins often but pays little, while a total of 4 or 17 rarely hits but pays big. Finally, set a budget and stick to it. Our six rules every gambler should follow are a good place to start.
A Note on the Wild Symbol
Our older review mentioned a golden wild dice symbol. We could not find any sign of this in the game’s rules or payout tables. Dice Twister is a straight dice game, and every bet is settled purely by the three dice. For that reason, we have removed the wild symbol from this review.
Playing Dice Twister Online and on Mobile
Dice Twister is an older arcade title, and it is not as easy to find as it once was. Some Playtech casinos still list it in their arcade or table game sections, while others have dropped it. If it isn’t available, you’ll find many of Playtech’s other titles in our Playtech slots and games section.
Where it is available, the game works on desktop and in most mobile browsers. The large dice and simple betting layout suit a smaller screen well.

Our Verdict
Dice Twister is a simple, fair and surprisingly good-value dice game. Choose the right bets, and you get a 97.22% return, which beats many slots. It won’t suit players who want features and storylines. But if you enjoy quick rounds and clear odds, it is well worth a few rolls.
