What Makes a Christmas Slot?
Christmas slots swap the usual fruit and card symbols for Santa, reindeer, snowmen, elves and piles of wrapped presents. The music is festive, and the reels are often dusted with snow. The bonus rounds usually have a seasonal twist too.
That twist is what sets the best ones apart. For example, a sleigh might fly across the screen and drop extra wilds. A gift box might open to reveal a prize. In other games, Santa walks through a little village and stops at a house that holds a bonus game.
Under the wrapping paper, though, these are normal real-money slots. They have the same RTP, volatility and bet ranges as any other game from the same studio. As a result, choose a Christmas slot the same way you’d choose any slot. Look at how it plays, not just how it looks.
Most of these games stay live all year round. Still, casinos tend to push them to the front of their lobbies from late November. Many studios also release new festive titles every December, so the choice keeps growing.
Christmas Slots at a Glance
We checked each game below against its studio’s own website in October 2026. The table shows what the studio lists today. Where a figure isn’t published, we’ve said so rather than guessing.

Good to know: Many studios release each game in several RTP versions. The casino picks which one you play. For instance, Iron Dog lists Santa’s Big Bash Megaways at 88%, 94% and 96%. You can usually check the RTP in the game’s info screen before you spin. Our guide to RTP and online slots explains why this matters.
Our Favourite Christmas Slots
Here’s a closer look at the festive games that are still listed by their studios today. Where we’ve written a full review, you’ll find a link to it.
Santa’s Big Bash Megaways (Iron Dog Studio)
This is the big hitter of the group. Santa’s Big Bash Megaways runs on six Megaways reels, so the number of ways to win changes on every spin. Iron Dog rates it as very high volatility, with a top multiplier of 25,000x.
That means long quiet spells are normal. On the other hand, the wins can be large when they land. It suits players with a decent budget who enjoy a bit of risk. If you’re new to the format, our Megaways slots guide is a handy primer.
Santa’s Festive Express Hold & Win (Iron Dog Studio)
This is one of the newest titles on our list. Iron Dog Studio released it in December 2025 as a seasonal hold and win game with a collector feature. Volatility sits in the medium to high range, and the top multiplier is 5,000x.
Hold and win games lock special symbols in place while you take a set number of respins. Each new symbol that lands usually resets the count. As a result, the bonus round can build up slowly and feel quite tense. We haven’t reviewed this one in full yet.
Mystical Santa Megaways (Stakelogic)
Mystical Santa Megaways is set in a snowy forest at the North Pole. It offers up to 117,649 ways to win. Stakelogic gives it three stars out of five for volatility, so it sits in the middle of the range.
The features are generous for a mid-range game. There’s a reel bonus, free spins and a gamble option. In addition, multiplier wilds can boost wins by up to 10x. The top win is 9,720x your stake, and Stakelogic lists the RTP at 96.11%. You can read more about the studio on our Stakelogic page.
Space Christmas (1X2gaming)
Here’s a slot with a fun twist. In Space Christmas, Santa finishes his rounds on Earth and then heads into outer space. It’s a five-reel game with medium volatility and a 96% RTP.
The top win is 750x your stake. That’s modest next to the Megaways games above. However, it also means the game should feel steadier, which suits a longer, more relaxed session. 1X2gaming belongs to the same network as Iron Dog Studio.
Santa’s Village (Habanero)
Santa’s Village has been around since 2017, and Habanero still lists it as live. It’s a 5×3 slot with medium volatility. What makes it stand out is the map feature.
A win that includes Santa sets him walking through his village of gift houses. When he lands on a house, you get one of three bonus games. On top of that, a sleigh can drop extra wild gift boxes. Winning symbols can also freeze in place for respins. Free games start at 12 spins.
Habanero offers this game in several RTP versions, ranging from about 86% up to 98%. So, it’s well worth checking the info screen before you play.
Christmas Big Bass Bonanza (Pragmatic Play)
The Big Bass series is one of the most popular in online slots. This festive version keeps the fishing theme but adds a Christmas look. It’s a 5×3 game with 10 paylines, and Pragmatic lists the RTP at 96.71%.
The fun happens in free spins. Fish symbols carry cash values, and wild symbols collect them. Every fourth wild you collect awards 10 more spins. In addition, the collection multiplier climbs to 2x, then 3x and then 10x. We haven’t written a full review of this game yet.
Sweet Bonanza Xmas (Pragmatic Play)
This is a holiday makeover of Sweet Bonanza, one of Pragmatic Play’s best-known slots. There are no paylines. Instead, you win by landing eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid. Winning symbols then tumble away, and new ones drop in.
Four or more scatters trigger 10 free spins. During the bonus, multiplier symbols worth up to 100x can land. Their values add together across a tumble sequence, which is where the big wins come from. Pragmatic lists the RTP at 96.48%.
Big Santa, Sneaky Santa and Sweet 16 Blast! Xmas Edition (SpinLogic)
SpinLogic Gaming is the newer name for Real Time Gaming, better known as RTG. It still lists three Christmas slots on its website.
Big Santa and Sneaky Santa are both five-reel, 25-line games with high volatility. Sweet 16 Blast! Xmas Edition uses six reels and 20 lines, with medium volatility. All three are eligible for free spins, which matters because RTG casinos often give out free spins on named games.
The top award on each is 50,000 times your bet. On Big Santa and Sneaky Santa, SpinLogic measures this per line. On Sweet 16 Blast! Xmas Edition, it’s per base bet.
Topboss Group tip: Before you choose a festive slot, decide how you want to play. High-volatility games like Santa’s Big Bash Megaways can go a long time between wins. Medium games like Space Christmas or Santa’s Village usually pay smaller amounts more often.
Older Festive Favourites
We’ve reviewed a few other Christmas slots over the years. However, we couldn’t confirm that their studios still offer them today. Some casinos may still have them in their lobbies, so they’re worth a look if you spot them.
- Epic Holiday Party was an RTG release. It no longer appears in SpinLogic’s current game list.
- Jolly’s Gifts comes from Side City Studios. We couldn’t check it against an official studio listing.
- Santa Paws, Secret Santa and Ho Ho Ho were Microgaming slots. That catalogue has since moved to Games Global, as our Microgaming page explains.
Prefer a wintry theme without the Santa hats? Our Sugar Rush Winter review is another option.
Where to Play Christmas Slots
Studios don’t run casinos themselves. Instead, they supply their games to online casinos, and each casino picks which titles to carry. So, the easiest way to find a particular Christmas slot is to look for a casino that uses its studio.
For example, the SpinLogic games above turn up at RTG casinos. Our guide to RTG slots and casinos lists the main sites. Among the casinos we’ve reviewed recently, Juicy Vegas, Dreams Casino and CryptoSamba all run RTG games.
Game lobbies do change, though. A casino may carry one festive title and not another, and some games are blocked in certain countries. Therefore, check the lobby or use the casino’s search bar before you deposit.
Making the Most of Holiday Promotions
December is the busiest month for casino promotions. You’ll often see advent calendars with a new prize each day. Free spins on festive slots and reload bonuses for Christmas and New Year are common too. For example, you can see what CryptoSamba ran last year in our CryptoSamba Christmas promotions roundup.
These offers can add real value. Still, they come with the same rules as any other bonus. Before you opt in, check these points:
- Wagering requirements: how many times you must play through a bonus before you can withdraw.
- Eligible games: free spins usually work on one named slot only.
- Expiry dates: daily advent prizes often expire within 24 hours.
- Maximum cashout: some free spin offers cap what you can withdraw.
- Country restrictions: a promotion may not be open to players in your country.
Holiday deals also change every year. Last year’s offer may not be running now, so always read the current terms on the casino’s own website. If you’d like to compare offer types, our guide to casino welcome bonuses breaks down how they work.
Play Safely Over the Holidays
The festive season is fun, but it’s also expensive. Gifts, travel and parties all add up. As a result, it’s a good idea to set a gambling budget before December starts and stick to it.
Here are a few simple habits that help:
- Set deposit limits in your casino account before you play.
- Treat any money you spend on slots as the cost of entertainment, not a way to pay for Christmas.
- Take regular breaks, especially during long holiday weekends.
- Never chase losses with money meant for bills or presents.

Christmas Slots FAQs
Can I play Christmas slots outside December?
Yes. Most Christmas slots stay available all year. Casinos simply give them more space in their lobbies during the holiday season.
Do Christmas slots pay better than other slots?
No. A festive theme doesn’t change the maths. Each game’s payouts depend on its RTP and volatility, just like any other slot. In fact, many are reskins of existing games, such as Sweet Bonanza Xmas.
Which Christmas slot has the biggest top win?
Of the games we checked, Santa’s Big Bash Megaways has the highest listed multiplier at 25,000x. The SpinLogic games list 50,000 times the bet. However, that’s measured per line or per base bet, not your total stake.
Can I try Christmas slots for free?
Many studios and casinos offer demo versions you can play without money. Demos are a good way to see how a game feels before you play for real.
Where can I find all your Christmas content?
Our Christmas tag page gathers every festive article on the site. If you enjoy themed games, our Halloween slots page is ready for spooky season too.
