Age of the Gods Twister Poker by Playtech

Age of the Gods Twister Poker Explained

Age of the Gods Twister is a poker game from Playtech. It is not a slot. Our earlier page called it a slot, so we have corrected that here.

The game brings the Age of the Gods jackpot series to online poker. Playtech announced it on 27 April 2018. It mixes fast three player poker with a random jackpot.

We rechecked this page against Playtech’s own announcement. Where the announcement is silent, we say so.

Twister at a Glance

How Twister Poker Works

Twister is a faster version of a three player format called Twister Poker. Three players sit down. Each one puts in a buy-in, and the pot is winner takes all.

Playtech says each player starts with five big blinds. That is a very short stack. As a result, hands move quickly, and big decisions come early.

The short stack keeps the action going. Players cannot wait for the perfect hand. They must bet, raise or fold fast.

If you are new to poker, our poker guide covers the basic hand rankings and rules. It is worth a quick read before you play.

The Twister Jackpot

The Twister jackpot sets the prize for the game. Playtech says it is a multiple of the buy-in, up to 100 times. A random draw decides the size.

Our earlier review said a slot animation reveals the prize pool at the start of the game. That sounds right for an Age of the Gods game. We could not confirm the detail in Playtech’s announcement.

The key point is easy to follow. You may sit down for a small buy-in and play for a much larger prize. The chance is random, and the prize can be small as well as large.

The Age of the Gods Progressive Jackpot

Every hand played gives a random chance to trigger the progressive jackpot. Playtech says the jackpot has four tiers. A small part of every buy-in feeds it.

The top tier is called Ultimate Power. Playtech says it starts at €100,000. The jackpot is shared with the eight other games in the series.

Our earlier review listed the four tiers as Power, Extra Power, Super Power and Ultimate Power. It also gave starting amounts for the three lower tiers. We could not confirm those amounts, so we do not quote them here.

Playtech also says the progressive does not depend on how you play. A player can win it even after losing the hand. This makes it a pure luck bonus on top of the poker.

Tournaments and Guaranteed Prizes

Playtech says the jackpot can trigger before a tournament begins. If it does, the winning player is guaranteed one of the four jackpot prizes.

Our earlier review said the tournament halts while the jackpot round plays out. It also said three players are needed before a game can start. Both points fit the format, but we could not confirm them from the announcement.

Our earlier review also mentioned the iPoker network and a Coral race promotion. Promotions change often. Check the poker room you use for current offers and rules.

What Our Earlier Page Said About Fees

Our earlier page described a €1 entry fee split into three parts. One part went to the Twister jackpot fund. A small part fed the progressive. The rest was the tournament fee.

Playtech’s announcement says a small part of each buy-in feeds the progressive. It does not give the exact split. We have therefore removed the exact figures and the payout maths from our earlier page.

Stakes and fees differ between poker rooms. Always read the lobby details before you sit down. See our gambling glossary for plain definitions of poker and jackpot terms.

Poker Basics for New Players

Poker ranks hands from a high card up to a royal flush. The best five card hand wins. If you are new, learn the order of hands first.

In a three player game, the blinds are small forced bets. They start the action on each hand. With only five big blinds, the blinds matter a lot.

A simple rule helps beginners. Play strong starting hands and fold weak ones. As the stacks shrink, widen your range a little. Practise on free tables if your poker room offers them.

A Typical Game, Step by Step

This example shows the flow of a Twister game. It is only an illustration.

• First: you choose a buy-in and join a table of three.
• Next: the game sets the Twister prize, a multiple of your buy-in.
• Then: each player starts with five big blinds and play begins.
• After that: a hand may trigger the progressive jackpot at random.
• Finally: one player takes the whole pot, and the others are out.

Most games will not trigger the progressive. You should expect to lose some games. That is normal for any poker game.

Strategy Tips for Short Stack Poker

No tip can guarantee a win. Still, a few habits help in a short stack game.

• Play tight early: with five big blinds, one mistake can end the game.
• Watch the blinds: the stack shrinks fast if you only fold.
• Pick spots to be aggressive: a good hand should usually bet.
• Know your hand rankings: our poker guide has a simple chart.
• Never play above your budget: the jackpot is luck, so do not chase it.

Take breaks, and stop when you reach your limit.

Who Will Enjoy Twister?

Twister suits poker players who like quick games. A game can end in minutes. The random jackpot adds a bonus layer for those who enjoy a big prize chance.

It may not suit players who prefer long, slow games with deep stacks. The five big blind start leaves little room for patient play.

If you prefer simpler games, try video poker. It uses poker hands but you play against a paytable, not other players.

Choosing a Safe Poker Room
