About Crazy Tooth Studio
Crazy Tooth Studio, often shortened to CTS, is a small slot developer based in Reno, Nevada. It started in land-based casinos and later moved into online slots through a partnership with Microgaming.
The studio is best known for its mix of polished art and clever bonus features. This page covers where CTS came from, how its games work and what to look for when you play them.

How Crazy Tooth Studio Started
CTS is the work of Ben Hoffman, who trained as a mathematician. Before starting his own company, he spent time working at International Gaming Technology (IGT) in the casino game business. That experience gave him a close view of how slots are designed, built and sold.
He founded the studio around the end of 2011. The aim was to design slot content for land-based, social and online casinos. In its early years, the team was small. A report from 2014 put the staff at around six people.
The story behind the name
The company name comes from a dog. Hoffman’s dog, Choco, had a snaggletooth. The studio first traded as Snaggletooth Studio, then changed its name after trademark problems. It became Crazy Tooth Studio.
The dog also gave the studio its first slot. Choco Choco features the pet and was made for Bally Technologies. Bally later became part of Scientific Games. The game did well in land-based casinos in northern Nevada and California.
Working with casino manufacturers
In the land-based world, studios like CTS often work with the big slot manufacturers. CTS supplied the ideas, art, game maths and prototypes. The manufacturer then handled the final coding, because casino licensing rules require this.
Over the years, the studio’s land-based clients have included Bally Technologies, American Gaming Systems, Caesars Entertainment and IGT. That is a strong list for a studio of its size.
The Move to Online Slots
Around three years before its 2020 interviews, CTS started to look at online games. It worked with Microgaming, one of the best-known names in the industry. The first result was Arctic Valor, which launched in February 2019.
Arctic Valor was the studio’s first game made exclusively for Microgaming. It came under a long-term supplier agreement. Hoffman said the deal would help the studio widen its skills and reach new players.
CTS released two online slots in 2019. In 2020, it released seven more. By October 2020, it had nine online slots, which is a fast start for a small team.
Crazy Tooth Studio Slot Games
CTS games share a few traits. They tend to use bold art, simple rules and a standout bonus. Here are the titles and features we can confirm.
Arctic Valor
Arctic Valor is a six-reel slot with 4,096 ways to win. Its main feature is the Falling Icicle. Icicles grow above the reels and can fall onto them, covering up to three symbols each. When an icicle shatters, it can reveal hidden symbols that turn into wilds or unlock cash prizes.
Three or more scatter symbols trigger the free spins round. There are seven free spins, and icicles plummet through the reels during the round. A full stack of Valkyrie symbols makes the icicles taller, up to a height of three symbols.
777 Mega Deluxe
777 Mega Deluxe arrived in January 2021. It has a four-reel layout with seven positions. Its main feature is called Respin Insanity. The studio built it to work on any device.
3 Devils Pinball
3 Devils Pinball takes the pinball idea into a slot bonus. The feature is called Power Path. The game uses a 1920s and 1930s cartoon look, often known as rubber-hose art.
Aureus
Aureus uses a coin mechanic called Coinverge. There are fifteen coin locations on the screen, and the game is hosted by the Roman god Jupiter.
Other CTS titles
- Diamond Force
- Banana Drop
- Seven 7’s
- Ancient Warriors, which uses real-time 3D models
- The Incredible Balloon Machine, a crash-style game with a feature called WiNCREASE
Some titles may be available only through certain casinos or platforms. Check the game lobby at your chosen casino to see what is on offer.
How CTS Slots Work
If you are new to slots, a few terms will help you understand CTS games.
Ways to win
A 4,096 ways slot has no fixed paylines. Instead, matching symbols pay when they land on adjacent reels from left to right. More symbols per reel means more ways to form wins.
Respins
A respin gives you another go without paying again. Some respin features hold symbols in place. Others add special symbols. Respins can create exciting moments, because you get several chances to build a win.
Coin and collect features
Coin mechanics lock symbols that carry cash values on the reels. When enough land, the values pay out. The idea is simple, and it suits quick play.
Our gambling glossary explains other slot terms, such as RTP and volatility, in plain English.
Why Players Like Crazy Tooth Studio
Many developers focus on style over gameplay. CTS tries to do both. Its slots combine strong art with features that are easy to follow.
The studio’s in-house team covers math design, art and animation, sound and music, and engineering. As a result, one team controls the whole game from idea to release. This helps give the games a consistent feel.
The studio also makes short promotional videos, starring a group called the CTS Game Lab Scientists. They add a bit of humour to each launch.
Common Features in CTS Slots
Several features appear again and again across the studio’s games. Knowing them makes any CTS slot easier to follow.
Wilds
A wild symbol replaces other symbols to complete a winning combination. In Arctic Valor, shattered icicles can reveal hidden symbols that turn wild. This links the feature to the theme, which is a CTS habit.
Scatters and free spins
Scatter symbols usually trigger a bonus round. In Arctic Valor, three or more scatters start the seven free spins. Free spins let you play without placing new bets, although any wins may carry wagering rules at some casinos.
Feature-led design
CTS tends to build each game around one main idea. In Arctic Valor, it is the icicle. In 777 Mega Deluxe, it is the respin. In Aureus, it is the coin mechanic. This keeps the rules clear and the action fast.
Trying a New Studio Safely
It is tempting to jump straight to real money when you spot a new game. A calmer approach works better.
- Start with a demo, if one is available, to learn the features.
- Play small stakes on your first real money session.
- Check how often the bonus appears before you raise your bet.
- Note the volatility, so you know whether to expect long quiet spells.
- Stop when you reach your limit, win or lose.
Trying a game at low stakes costs little. It also tells you quickly whether the style suits you. Some players love a pinball bonus. Others prefer a classic fruit machine feel. There is no right answer.
How to Choose a Slot
CTS slots are fun, but it is smart to check the basics before you play any game.
- Look at the RTP. This shows the average share of bets a slot pays back over a very long time.
- Check the volatility. High volatility slots can pay big, but less often.
- Read the bonus rules, including how free spins work.
- Try the demo version first if the casino offers one.
- Set a budget and stick to it.
RTP can vary between casinos for some games. Always check the information screen in the game itself. You can also browse our guide to slots by provider to compare games from different studios.
Where to Play
CTS online slots reach players mainly through Microgaming’s network. That means they can appear at many casinos that offer Microgaming games. Our casino software guide explains how this kind of supply works.
Choose a casino with a valid licence. Respected regulators include the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. Our online gambling licences page explains what each licence means. For more ideas, see the world of online casinos on our site.
Our casino safety guide also helps you spot reliable sites. Before you claim a bonus, read the rules in our guide to casino bonus terms.
Play Responsibly
Slots are meant to be entertainment. They are not a way to make money. The house always has an edge over time.
- Decide how much you can afford to lose before you start.
- Use deposit limits and take regular breaks.
- Never chase losses.
- Avoid gambling when tired, upset or under pressure.
If gambling stops being fun, take a break and seek support. Licensed casinos offer self-exclusion and other tools.
Final Thoughts on CTS
Crazy Tooth Studio shows that a small team can compete in a crowded market. It grew from a one-dog idea in Reno into a Microgaming partner. Its slots offer strong art, fresh mechanics and a clear focus on quality.
As they say, dynamite comes in small packages.
