ScatterKings Software Review: Slots, Features & Games

8

ScatterKings is a relatively new online casino software developer, but the people behind the studio are anything but newcomers to the iGaming industry. The Malta-based developer was created by experienced gaming executives and has set out to build slots around familiar, proven features while giving them its own visual style and gameplay twists.

The developer is particularly associated with Hold & Spin games, Collector symbols and coin-based features, although its growing portfolio now includes everything from compact three-reel slots to 5×6 cluster games. ScatterKings is also building recurring game families rather than relying entirely on one-off releases, with series such as Coins Forged, Gold Lock, Gold Luck and Fruity Fridays forming part of its broader strategy.

What interested me most when looking through ScatterKings’ latest roadmap is that the studio isn’t simply changing the graphics and releasing the same game again. Coins Forged in Thunder, Coins Forged in Fire 3 and Coins Forged in Thunder 2 Extreme all share familiar ideas, but each introduces something different to the way coins, Collectors and multipliers behave.

Who Is ScatterKings?

ScatterKings was founded by a team with considerable experience in online casino game development. The founding leadership includes Steven Batchelor-Manning, Boro Brumen and Steven Cross, who previously held senior positions within NOVOMATIC’s interactive gaming business.

Rather than competing solely on the number of games it can release, ScatterKings has positioned itself as a more focused slot studio. Its own description of the business centres on combining established game formats with unexpected features and artwork designed to give individual titles more personality.

The company publicly launched its game portfolio in late 2025 and has expanded relatively quickly since then. Its games have subsequently been made available through several aggregation platforms, including Hub88, Silverspin and St8, helping the supplier reach more casino operators without requiring individual integrations with every brand.

ScatterKings’ website also lists recognised industry names including Betsson, REEVO, SOFTSWISS, Synot and win2day among companies associated with its growing distribution network.

How ScatterKings Develops Its Games

ScatterKings’ approach is based largely around taking gameplay ideas casino players already understand and then changing something important about them. That is particularly noticeable in its Hold & Spin titles.

Collector symbols, cash-on-reels features, mystery symbols and persistent multipliers appear frequently, but the way they are used changes between games. That should make the games relatively accessible to players familiar with modern slots without making every release feel exactly the same.

The company has also talked about creating game families and franchises rather than developing only isolated titles. This is already visible in the Coins Forged series, where familiar branding and core features carry from one slot to another while the reel layouts and bonus behaviour evolve.

From a technical perspective, ScatterKings says its development environment uses a cloud-based infrastructure and AI-assisted production tools. However, the studio continues to emphasise the human creative side of its games and the importance of distinctive artwork and game design rather than simply producing content at scale.

ScatterKings Slot Games

The current ScatterKings portfolio is dominated by slots, with Hold & Spin and coin-collection features appearing particularly often.

Among the studio’s established releases are Coins of Cleo, Big Bob’s Gold and games from the Gold Lock range. Its 2026 roadmap considerably expands the collection with several Coins Forged titles together with Book Bonanza Gold, Coins of the Gods 3 Pots and Lady of Atlantis.

The result is a portfolio that mixes fairly straightforward three-reel and four-row games with increasingly elaborate video slots.

Coins Forged in Thunder

Coins Forged in Thunder is a compact 3×3 slot that demonstrates one of ScatterKings’ favourite ideas: the Collector.

The coins can land on reels one and three, while a Collector appears on the centre reel. When the Collector lands, the values of qualifying coins are immediately collected and paid. Landing the Collector together with coins on both outside reels activates the Hold & Spin feature.

During the bonus, the Collector remains in position while newly landed coins are collected. The feature also returns to three spins when qualifying new coins arrive.

Big Bob’s Gold

One ScatterKings slot worth checking out is Big Bob’s Gold, a colourful fishing-themed game with 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 fixed paylines. It offers two main bonus features, including Hold & Spin and Free Spins. During Free Spins, Big Bob acts as both a Wild and a Collector, collecting the values attached to Fish symbols. The game also features progressive multiplier levels and offers a maximum win of up to 11,000x the stake. You can find out more about the features and how they work in our Big Bob’s Gold slot review.

Book Bonanza Gold

Book Bonanza Gold swaps the Coins Forged presentation for an Egyptian adventure featuring explorer Max Fortune.

There is more going on here than in some of ScatterKings’ compact slots. The game includes both a Hold & Spin bonus and Expanding Treasure Free Spins, together with several Bonus Buy options.

It’s also one of the highest-paying games highlighted in the supplied roadmap. ScatterKings advertises a 2,000x Grand Jackpot and maximum win potential of 11,000x the stake.

Coins Forged in Fire 3

Coins Forged in Fire 3 develops the established Coins Forged idea by introducing a Multiplier Fireball.

When a Fireball appears, it leaves a multiplier on that reel position. Coins that subsequently land on the position have their value multiplied before being collected.

The interesting part is that the multiplier doesn’t immediately disappear. It remains on the reels across spins but drops by one with each spin. During the bonus, it stays locked in place and can become larger when additional Fireballs land.

Coins Forged in Thunder 2

Coins Forged in Thunder 2 expands on the first game rather than completely changing the formula.

The original 3×3 configuration grows to a 3×4 reel layout with eight win lines. That extra row allows more coins and more Collector symbols to appear, increasing the number of possible combinations compared with the first Thunder release.

Coins Forged by Ghosts

Coins Forged by Ghosts gives the series a completely different look. The Halloween-themed game features friendly ghosts alongside vampires, zombies and werewolves, although the graphics are colourful and playful rather than particularly frightening.

It uses a 3×4 configuration with a centre Collector and another variation of the Hold & Spin feature. When coins are collected during the bonus, they are removed from the reels, leaving those spaces available for new coins.

Landing all four Collector symbols provides the potential for considerably bigger wins.

Coins Forged in Thunder 2 Extreme

For players wanting a more aggressive version of Thunder 2, ScatterKings has created Coins Forged in Thunder 2 Extreme.

The main difference is a new Collector symbol that applies a 2x multiplier to every coin it collects. ScatterKings describes the Extreme version as having higher volatility and greater potential for large wins than the standard game.

Coins of the Gods 3 Pots

Coins of the Gods 3 Pots introduces Greek mythology and a more involved set of features.

The 5×3 game takes place on Mount Olympus with Zeus overlooking the reels. Its Lightning Bolt Mystery symbol can reveal golden coins, golden bolts or higher-paying regular symbols.

Six or more coins activate the bonus. Golden bolts behave differently, creating their own reel that spins and can award an instant multiplier win. The Mystery symbol then moves down on the following spin, providing another opportunity for a reveal.

Once the bonus starts, three coin pots act as Collectors and feed collected values into a Total Win Meter. Reaching at least 10 coins unlocks a second reel that mirrors coins appearing on the first reel.

Lady of Atlantis

Lady of Atlantis is one of the releases that interests me most because it shows ScatterKings moving well beyond its usual compact coin slots.

The game uses a large 5×6 grid with cluster wins and tumbling symbols. Winning tumbles create highlighted positions. If the Trident symbol lands, those highlighted spaces become spinning reels and reveal multiplier coins that are paid immediately.

Reaching 10 consecutive tumbles automatically produces a Trident, converting all eligible marked positions into multiplier coins.

Lady of Atlantis also offers two different bonus routes, with both Free Spins and Hold & Spin available. The Hold & Spin round is based around multiplier coins, giving it a somewhat different feel from the Collector-led bonuses found elsewhere in the ScatterKings portfolio.

ScatterKings 2026 Release Roadmap

The second half of 2026 is particularly busy for ScatterKings. The Q3 and Q4 roadmap supplied to Topboss Group shows the developer expanding existing series while also introducing completely new themes.

Game Release Date Main Feature
Coins Forged in Thunder 14 August 2026 Collector and Hold & Spin
Book Bonanza Gold 28 August 2026 Hold & Spin and Expanding Treasure Free Spins
Coins Forged in Fire 3 11 September 2026 Persistent Multiplier Fireballs
Coins Forged in Thunder 2 21 September 2026 3×4 reels and eight win lines
Coins Forged by Ghosts 1 October 2026 Halloween Hold & Spin
Coins Forged in Thunder 2 Extreme 23 October 2026 2x Collector
Coins of the Gods 3 Pots 6 November 2026 Mystery symbols and Collector pots
Lady of Atlantis 13 November 2026 Cluster wins, tumbles and multiplier coins

Hold & Spin and Collector Features

If I had to pick one thing that currently defines a ScatterKings slot, it would be the combination of coins, Collector symbols and Hold & Spin bonuses.

The advantage is that these features don’t require much explanation. When a valuable coin lands, the player knows they want a Collector to go with it. That simplicity can make the games easier to pick up than slots containing several completely different feature systems.

ScatterKings then changes the formula from game to game. Fire 3 introduces persistent multipliers, Thunder 2 expands the grid and Thunder 2 Extreme doubles collected coins. Coins Forged by Ghosts clears collected positions so that new coins have somewhere to land.

It gives the games a family resemblance without making every title an exact copy.

ScatterKings Graphics and Game Design

Visually, ScatterKings has made a noticeable effort to give its slots their own personalities.

The Coins Forged games range from the electric blues of Thunder to the fiery red and orange presentation of Fire 3. Coins Forged by Ghosts takes almost the opposite approach, using a soft and colourful Halloween setting rather than the dark design you might expect from the theme.

Book Bonanza Gold uses the temples, treasure and gold traditionally associated with Egyptian adventure games, while Coins of the Gods 3 Pots moves into a bright Mount Olympus setting. Lady of Atlantis has one of the more elaborate presentations, with an underwater environment surrounding its tall 5×6 reel grid.

The game screens shown in the supplied roadmap are also clearly suited to mobile displays, with vertical reel arrangements and large spin controls that should translate naturally to smartphone play.

Where Can You Play ScatterKings Slots?

ScatterKings has been expanding its distribution network since its public launch and its games are now available through several major aggregation platforms.

Partnerships with Hub88, Silverspin and St8 give casino operators different routes to integrate the developer’s games. ScatterKings’ own website also highlights relationships with companies including Betsson, REEVO, SOFTSWISS, Synot and win2day.

Availability will still vary between casinos and countries. A game appearing through an aggregation platform does not automatically mean it is available to players in every jurisdiction, so you should always check the casino’s game lobby from your own location.

ScatterKings Licensing and Regulation

ScatterKings is based in Birkirkara, Malta and has been concentrating on distribution in regulated gambling markets.

The supplier has obtained regulatory approval in Denmark and has also entered the Austrian market. Its expansion strategy has included working with locally regulated operators and established aggregation platforms rather than relying only on offshore distribution.

One point worth noting is that regulatory approval and game availability can differ between individual countries. Players should therefore check the licensing details of the online casino they are using rather than assuming that every ScatterKings game can legally be offered everywhere.

ScatterKings Pros and Cons

What I Think of ScatterKings

ScatterKings is still building its reputation, but I think there is enough here already to make the developer worth watching. I particularly like the fact that the team isn’t trying to hide what works. Hold & Spin and coin collection are popular for a reason, and ScatterKings uses them as a starting point before adding something different.

Coins Forged in Fire 3 is a good example. The persistent Fireball multiplier is simple enough to understand immediately, but it gives you an extra reason to watch where the next coin lands. Thunder 2 Extreme takes an even simpler approach by doubling every coin collected by its special Collector.

I’m also pleased to see Lady of Atlantis on the roadmap. A 5×6 cluster game with tumbling symbols is a significant departure from the smaller Coins Forged titles and shows that ScatterKings isn’t planning to build every game around exactly the same reel setup.

For me, the main question now is how much the portfolio broadens as the studio grows. If ScatterKings can retain the straightforward features that make its current slots accessible while continuing to experiment with games such as Lady of Atlantis, it could develop into a very interesting supplier.

ScatterKings Review Verdict

ScatterKings combines an experienced development team with a noticeably modern approach to slot creation. The supplier’s strongest identity currently comes from its Coins Forged games, where Collectors, coins and Hold & Spin bonuses are repeatedly developed in slightly different directions.

There is also more variety emerging. Book Bonanza Gold brings Free Spins and maximum wins of up to 11,000x, Coins of the Gods 3 Pots introduces mystery features and multiple Collector pots, while Lady of Atlantis moves into cluster wins and tumbling reels.

The portfolio isn’t yet as large as those of the industry’s longest-established developers, but ScatterKings is expanding quickly and has already secured distribution through several recognised platforms. For players who enjoy Hold & Spin slots, Collector features and colourful games that don’t take long to understand, ScatterKings is a supplier worth keeping an eye on.
