The Studio at a Glance

The studio makes games for online casinos, land-based casinos and free-to-play social apps. In this guide, we look at who runs it and what its slots are like. We also explain how to find its games online.

Who Is Behind the Studio?

The studio was set up by Shridhar Joshi, who is still its CEO. Before starting the studio, he spent many years at WMS, one of the big names in American slot machines. He joined its new gaming division as only the fourth employee.

That division later grew into a business with more than $800 million in revenue. Joshi went on to become Vice President of Global Product Strategy there. He also led its research and development work.

Along the way, he helped create some well-known land-based slots. These include Jackpot Party, Life of Luxury, Powerball and Monopoly. He holds more than 45 patents of his own.

Older profiles of the studio, including earlier versions of this page, also named Darryl Hughes as head of design. That said, the studio’s current team page lists only Joshi by name. For that reason, we can’t confirm whether Hughes is still involved.

The wider team brings the same kind of land-based know-how. According to the company, its staff have close to 125 years of game-making experience between them. The team includes designers, 2D and 3D artists, sound composers, programmers and a dedicated maths team.

The studio says it focuses on “quality games with unique math models that appeal to a wide range of players.”

In other words, the maths behind each game matters as much as the artwork. As a result, many of its slots feel a little different from the standard five-reel formula.

What Are 2 By 2 Slots Like to Play?

Most of its games are five-reel video slots with lots going on. Random features can land on any spin. For example, a slot might suddenly turn a reel wild or add extra paylines for one spin.

The free spins rounds are where the studio really stands out. Several games let you choose how to play your free spins. You might pick fewer spins with bigger multipliers, or more spins with extra paylines.

The themes will feel familiar to most slot fans. You will find Greek and Norse mythology, fairy tales, Asian fortune games and classic Vegas-style titles. There are also a few lighter ideas, such as zombies, farms and fishing.

The studio also says it builds games across a range of volatility levels. In simple terms, some games pay smaller wins more often. Others pay less often but can land bigger wins.

Topboss Group tip: When one of these slots offers a free spins choice, the options usually balance out over time. So pick the style you enjoy most. Fewer, bigger spins suit patient players. More spins give you a steadier ride.

Popular 2 By 2 Gaming Slots

The table below covers some of the studio’s best-known titles. We have used the feature details the developer publishes for each game.

Slot Theme Standout feature Free spins
Magic of Pandora Greek myth Pandora’s Box can add wild reels, extra wilds or up to 50 paylines 8, 12 or 16
Medusa’s Golden Gaze Greek myth Reel Copy clones a full stack from reel 1 onto other reels Up to 200
Agent Valkyrie Action hero Three re-spin features, including Flying Wilds 7, 11 or 15
Wild Krakatoa Volcano A stack on reel 3 can open up a sixth reel 8
Pinocchio’s Fortune Fairy tale Three bonus games, including a Find Geppetto trail 8, 12 or 16

Magic of Pandora

Magic of Pandora is a good place to start. On any spin, Pandora’s Box can open and release one of three features. It might lock one or two middle reels as wild or scatter extra wilds across the grid. Alternatively, a spider can spin a web that turns the game into a 50-line slot.

Three, four or five scatters trigger 8, 12 or 16 free spins. Then you can let the game share out the features at random. You can also build your own mix instead.

Medusa’s Golden Gaze

Medusa’s Golden Gaze is built around a clever copying feature. If reel 1 fills with a full stack of one symbol, Medusa can copy it onto up to four more reels. That can turn an ordinary spin into a big one.

The free spins round is just as generous. It can award up to 200 spins. With 30 or more spins, you also unlock Super Free Spins at 3x pays and Mega Free Spins at 5x pays.

Agent Valkyrie

Agent Valkyrie is a spy-style slot with three re-spin features. Wild Reel turns one or two reels wild. Flying Wilds sends wilds onto random symbols, while Capture Criminals turns the villains into wilds.

Free spins come as a “mission”. You can accept the mission the game gives you or create your own.

Wild Krakatoa

Wild Krakatoa has a fiery twist on the usual layout. When a full stack of volcano symbols lands on reel 3, it bursts open to reveal a sixth reel. You then get re-spins with the wild reels held in place.

During free spins, the grid grows to six reels and 30 paylines. Reels 3 and 4 also turn wild for the whole round.

Pinocchio’s Fortune

Pinocchio’s Fortune is one of the studio’s older games, and it is still one of its busiest. Each time Pinocchio appears in free spins, his nose grows. That can earn you up to 15 bonus picks.

There is also a board-game style bonus where you travel a trail to find Geppetto. Along the way, you can pick up credits, multipliers and mini-games. A third bonus can award cash or a wild reel.

Other Fan Favourites

Beyond the games above, Mandarin Fortune, Riches of the Sea and Spell of Odin have long been popular picks. All three are still listed in the studio’s portfolio. Riches of the Sea takes you under the waves, while Spell of Odin leans into Norse legend.

We have also reviewed Wolfheart, Enchanting Spells and Wizard of the Woods in full. You will find links to those reviews further down this page.

New Games in 2026

The studio is still active and still adding games. In August 2026, four new titles appeared on its portfolio page. These are Almighty Fortune, Cowabunga Cash, Gems Galore and Ming Dynasty Maximum Fireballs.

Earlier in the year, the studio also listed Jackpot Hitz and Cash Jackpot Hitz 2. So far, the developer has only posted artwork for most of these games. We will add feature details once they are published.

Ming Dynasty Maximum Fireballs looks like a follow-up to the older Ming Dynasty slot. Meanwhile, Double Honey Money builds on the earlier Honey Money. Sequels like these are usually a sign that the originals went down well.

Land-Based and Social Casino Games

Online slots are only part of the story. The studio also works with traditional slot machine makers. For example, it has converted land-based games from Bally Technologies and Bluberi Gaming so they can be played online.

The studio’s current partner list includes land-based names such as Incredible Technologies and Gaming Arts. This fits with its founders’ long history in casino floor machines.

In addition, some of its slots appear in free-to-play social casino apps. The company names Tropworld and Mega Fame Casino as two of these apps. There, you play for fun with virtual coins rather than real money.

Where Can You Play 2 By 2 Slots Online?

For many years, the studio’s online games reached players through Microgaming’s Quickfire platform. Several game pages on the studio’s website still mention Quickfire today. If you know older Microgaming casinos, that is likely where you first saw these slots.

Things have changed since then. Microgaming’s content business has moved to Games Global. We could not confirm its current online distribution deal from first-party sources. As a result, availability now varies a lot from casino to casino.

The studio’s services page names large operators such as William Hill, Mr Green, Unibet, bet365, BetVictor, PokerStars and ComeOn. That page looks quite old, though. So treat it as a history of past partners rather than a live list.

How to find these slots at a casino

Search the casino lobby for “2 By 2” or “2by2” in the provider filter. If that finds nothing, try a game name such as Magic of Pandora. Many casinos also let you try a demo first, so you can test a game before you deposit.

Always check that the casino holds a proper licence. Look for regulators such as the UK Gambling Commission or the Malta Gaming Authority.

American players should keep in mind that online casinos are legal in only a handful of US states. Our guide to online casinos in the USA explains more.

Pros and Cons

Pros Cons
Founders with decades of experience at WMS Small catalogue compared with the biggest studios
Free spins rounds where you choose how to play Games can be hard to find at online casinos today
Lots of random features in the base game RTP figures are not listed on the developer’s website
Still releasing new titles in 2026 Some older titles look dated next to newer releases

How the Studio Compares With Others

2 By 2 is a boutique studio. It does not pump out new games every week like the giants do. Instead, it spends more time on the maths and the bonus features of each game.

If you enjoy that feature-heavy style, you may also like GameArt slots. They share the same focus on solid gameplay over flashy visuals. MultiSlot is another smaller developer with its own quirky ideas.

On the other hand, you might want more polish and a bigger choice. In that case, larger studios such as Play’n GO and Yggdrasil are easier to find. For the latest releases from across the industry, see our new slot games page.

Playing Slots Safely

Every slot is a game of chance, however clever its features. No bonus choice or betting pattern can beat the house edge over time. So set a budget before you start and treat any wins as a bonus.

Most licensed casinos offer tools to help you stay in control. These include deposit limits, time reminders and self-exclusion. If gambling stops being fun, take a break and speak to a support service in your country.

Our Verdict on 2 By 2 Gaming

This is a small studio with a big land-based background. Its slots are busy, feature-rich and often let you shape your own free spins. The catalogue is modest, and the games can take some finding online. Still, Magic of Pandora and Medusa’s Golden Gaze are well worth a spin. Keep an eye out for them in casino lobbies.
