The Expendables Megaways at a Glance
The Expendables Megaways from Stakelogic turns the action-movie franchise into a six-reel Megaways slot. Each reel shows between 2 and 7 symbols, which gives anything from 324 up to 117,649 ways to win on every spin. Cascading wins, a bullet-collecting wild feature and free spins with a growing multiplier drive the action.

How the Megaways Engine Works
Every spin changes the number of rows on each of the six reels, from 2 to 7 symbols. The number of rows multiplies together to set the ways to win, so a spin can offer as few as 324 or as many as 117,649. If you are new to the format, our guide to Megaways slots explains it, and Megaways versus regular slots compares the two styles.
A sequel is also available: The Expendables New Mission Megaways.
Symbols and the Wild
The crew is all here except Arnold. Barney Ross, played by Sylvester Stallone, is the top symbol and pays 12.5x for six on a payline. He is also the only symbol that pays for two of a kind. The wild is a dog tag, and a collectable bullet symbol feeds the Bullet Bonus. The skull is the scatter.
Bullet Bonus
Bullets are collected whenever they land on the reels. Fill the counter with five bullets and gunfire hits the reels, placing five wilds. It can happen in the base game, so you do not need a bonus round to see a big hit.
Cascading Reels and the Progressive Multiplier
Winning symbols are removed and new symbols drop in from above. This repeats while you keep landing wins. A progressive multiplier starts at 1x and rises by 1x for each cascading win, with no upper limit according to our original review. A long chain of cascades is the way to a large payout.
Free Spins and the Expendables Feature
Landing four or more skulls anywhere on the same spin triggers the free spins:
- 4 skulls: 12 free spins
- 5 skulls: 16 free spins
- 6 skulls: 20 free spins
- 7 skulls: 24 free spins
Landing 3 or 4 scatters during the round awards 4 or 8 extra spins. In the bonus the Expendables Feature removes any royal symbols that land in winning combinations, so the lower-paying symbols are dropped and make way for better ones.
Gamble Feature
As with other Stakelogic slots, you can gamble a win. A blind card appears and you wager on its colour or suit. You can gamble up to five times in a row, and a wrong guess ends the feature and loses the stake. Treat it with caution, because it can wipe out a win in a single click.
Betting Range
Bets start at $0.20 and go up to $20 per spin, which suits most budgets. With a high variance game it is sensible to pick a stake that gives you plenty of spins, as the big wins come from long cascade chains and the bonus round.
How to Play
- Open the game and check the info screen for RTP and stake limits.
- Set a bet between $0.20 and $20.
- Spin and watch for bullets to fill the counter.
- Look for four or more skulls to start the free spins.
- Decide before you play whether you will use the gamble feature at all.
Who Will Enjoy It
The slot suits fans of the films and anyone who likes Megaways and cascades. Players who prefer low volatility should look elsewhere. If you like branded games, see our list of the best movie themed slots, or try Monopoly Megaways.
RTP and Volatility
Our original review lists an average RTP of 96.02% and high variance. Operators can run different RTP versions of a game, so confirm the figure in the help screen. Our RTP guide explains how to read it.
