Archangels: Salvation Slot Overview
Archangels: Salvation is an epic battle between good and evil from NetEnt. Angels and demons fight across the reels, and you get to watch the war play out. NetEnt lists its release date as 25 April 2018.
The game made history for the studio. NetEnt says it was the first NetEnt slot ever to have 100 bet lines. It also has an unusual layout of 6 reels and 12 rows.
The real stars are the two hot spot areas. A 2×2 wild landing in either area starts a wild feature. The top area brings stacked wilds from Heaven, and the bottom area fires single wilds from Hell.

Theme and Design
The theme is a classic tale of good versus evil. An angel stands on the left of the screen, and a demon waits on the right. Our original review praised the 3D graphics and the dramatic orchestral soundtrack.
The symbols match the battle theme. You’ll see a golden lion, a red-eyed skull, horns and helmets. Lower down the paytable are crystal-style card suits, such as diamonds, hearts, spades and clubs.
Our original review said the angel and demon are the top-paying symbols. Five on a line paid 150 coins in that review.
How the 6×12 Layout Works
Most slots have 3 or 4 rows. Archangels: Salvation has 12 rows on each of its 6 reels. That gives the game a tall, dramatic look.
This extra height leaves room for the hot spot areas. Heaven sits in the top 2 rows, and Hell sits in the bottom 2 rows. The rows in between are where most of your wins land.
The 100 paylines are fixed. So, you always play every line on each spin.
Betting, RTP and Max Win
NetEnt lists bets from €0.40 up to €200 per spin. Our original review said you choose a coin value from 0.01 to 1.00. You then pick a bet level from 1 to 10.
The RTP is 96.08%, which is right on the online average. NetEnt lists a hit frequency of 17.00%. That’s fairly low, so expect some quiet spells between wins.
NetEnt lists the maximum payout as 644x your bet. Our original review gave much higher figures, so we’ve updated this to NetEnt’s own number.
The 2×2 Wild
The wild is a large 2×2 gold block marked “W”. It substitutes for every symbol except the scatter.
On its own, it works like a big wild that can complete several lines at once. Its real power comes when it lands in a hot spot area. That’s when the Heaven or Hell feature kicks in.
The Hot Spot Areas
There are two hot spot areas on the reels. Heaven covers the top 2 rows, while Hell covers the bottom 2 rows.
If any part of a 2×2 wild lands in a hot spot area, that area’s wild feature starts. NetEnt says the feature is activated once for every position the wild covers. So, a 2×2 wild landing fully in a hot spot activates the feature 4 times.
During the free spins, both hot spot areas grow to 3 rows. That makes the features easier to trigger.
The Heaven Feature
The Heaven feature starts when a 2×2 wild lands in the top hot spot. It adds stacks of wilds to the reels.
If the wild lands partly in the hot spot, you get 2 stacks of wilds. If it lands fully, you get 4 stacks. Each stack is 3 to 5 symbols long.
The stacks can cover scatters and smaller wilds. They can’t land in the top hot spot area itself.
The Hell Feature
The Hell feature starts when a 2×2 wild lands in the bottom hot spot. The Hell area then shoots single wilds onto the reels at random.
You get 8 wilds if the 2×2 wild lands partly in the hot spot. If it lands fully, you get 16 wilds. These single wilds can’t land on scatters, on other wilds or in the bottom hot spot.
How the Features Chain Together
NetEnt says the features can be reactivated. This happens when a stack of wilds or a single wild lands in a hot spot again.
There’s a twist. The same feature can’t activate twice in a row. So, if Hell activates first, the next one has to be Heaven. That makes the features swap back and forth.
Each wild in a hot spot gives you either 1 stack of wilds or 4 single wilds. The chain ends when no new wilds land in a hot spot, or when there’s no space left. All the wins are then added up and paid.
Free Spins
The scatter is a 2-stacked symbol, so it takes up two positions on a reel. Each stack counts as one scatter, even if only part of it is showing.
Land 3 or more scatters anywhere to start the free spins:
| Scatters | Free spins |
|---|---|
| 3 | 10 |
| 4 | 15 |
| 5 | 20 |
| 6 | 25 |
During the free spins, both hot spot areas grow from 2 rows to 3 rows. That gives the 2×2 wild a better chance of starting a feature. Our original review said the free spins can’t be retriggered.
How to Play Archangels: Salvation

- Spin the reels: wins pay on 100 fixed lines.

- Collect scatters: 3 or more start up to 25 free spins.
- Enjoy the bigger hot spots: they grow to 3 rows in the free spins.

Our original review said AutoPlay can run up to 1,000 spins in a row. It also offers options for when AutoPlay should stop. Check your balance from time to time while it runs.
Who Is Archangels: Salvation Best For?
This slot suits players who like big, busy features. Watching wilds flood the reels from Heaven or Hell is very satisfying.
It’s a good fit if you:
- Like unusual layouts: 6 reels and 12 rows is rare.
- Enjoy wild features: two different ones, which swap back and forth.
- Like epic themes: angels, demons and an orchestral score.
On the other hand, the low hit rate means it may not suit players who want frequent small wins.
Tips for Playing Archangels: Salvation
- Watch the edges of the screen: the hot spots are at the very top and bottom.
- Don’t worry about partial wilds: even part of a 2×2 wild starts a feature.
- Hope for 6 scatters: that gives you 25 free spins.
- Pace your stake: wins can be patchy with a 17% hit rate.
- Set a budget: decide your limit before you start.

Our Verdict

Our original review compared this game with two very different slots. Playtech’s Ugga Bugga is a simpler, quirkier game. For another bold design, try Genii’s Beat Bots.
