Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes Overview
Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes takes the spooky ride from your local funfair and turns it into a slot. It comes from Ash Gaming, a studio owned by Playtech, and it’s part of the Fairground Fortunes series. You’ll often see it listed as Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train.
The game mixes creepy with cheerful. On one hand, there are ghosts, skulls and a scary-looking bat. On the other, the colourful cartoon art and fairground setting keep things light. As a result, it suits players who want Halloween fun without real frights.
Based on our original review, the game plays on 5 reels with 20 paylines. It has a Ghost Train ride bonus with cash prizes, plus free spins with stacked wilds and extra paylines. We refreshed this review in October 2026 to make it clearer and easier to follow.

Theme and Graphics
The game is set at a night-time funfair. Bouncy castles, dodgem cars and a ghost train fill the reels, with the bright lights of the fair behind them. It’s a fun setting, and it feels quite different from the usual haunted houses and graveyards.
The art is cartoon-style rather than realistic. Ghosts and skulls add a spooky edge, but nothing here is truly frightening. As a result, Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes sits closer to a family Halloween party than a horror film.
If you enjoy that light-hearted approach, Play’n GO’s Happy Halloween has a similar feel. On the other hand, players who want real scares might prefer House of Doom.
Betting, RTP and Volatility
Our original review listed a bet range of $0.20 to $20 per spin and an RTP of 94.06%. It also described the game as medium volatility. Because Playtech doesn’t publish a public game page, we couldn’t confirm these figures today.
An RTP of 94.06% would be below the average for modern slots, which often sit around 96%. In simple terms, the game would be expected to pay back a little less over time. Casinos can also run different versions of the same game. So, open the help screen before you play to see the exact RTP. Our guide to RTP and online slots explains why this matters.
Topboss Group tip: Older slots are sometimes withdrawn quietly. If you can’t find Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes at your casino, our other Halloween reviews below are a good place to look for an alternative.
Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes Symbols
Regular Symbols
The lower-paying symbols are the usual card ranks, from 10 up to A. Above them, you’ll find fairground favourites such as bouncy castles, dodgems and ghosts. The Ghost Train Fairground logo was one of the top-paying symbols in our original review.
Skull Wild
The skull is the wild. It stands in for most other symbols to help complete wins. However, it doesn’t replace the scatter or the Ghost Train symbols.
Coconut Scatter
The coconut is the scatter, a nod to the classic coconut shy at the fair. Our original review said two to five broken coconuts paid prizes based on your total bet. Some symbols could also turn into coconuts at random, which helped trigger the Ghost Train feature.
Bat Symbol
The scary-looking bat holds the key to the free spins. You need it to land on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time.
Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes Bonus Features
The game has two main features. Here’s a quick summary:
- Ghost Train feature: take a ride on the ghost train and collect cash prizes from the monsters you meet.
- Free spins: 10 free spins with stacked wilds and three extra paylines.
Ghost Train Feature
To start the ride, you need three Ghost Train symbols on the middle reels, which are reels 2, 3 and 4. A Golden Ghost Train symbol can also help. Based on our original review, two Ghost Trains plus one Golden Ghost Train start the feature with at least three rides.
During the ride, you meet a series of fairground monsters. Each one awards a cash prize. At the end, you pick a ticket for a chance to ride again. Our original review said the feature could retrigger up to five times.
Free Spins
Land the bat symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time to win 10 free spins. During the round, you play on three extra paylines, so there are more ways to win on each spin.
On top of that, wilds can land stacked on the reels. A full stack covers a whole reel, which can complete several lines at once. Our original review also said the free spins could retrigger again and again. As a result, this is where the game’s biggest wins usually come from.
How to Play Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes
The game is simple to pick up. Here’s how to get started:
- Set your stake: choose your bet using the controls.
- Spin the reels: press Spin, or use Autoplay for a set number of rounds.
- Watch the middle reels: three Ghost Train symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 start the ride bonus.
- Look for bats: bats on reels 1, 3 and 5 together start 10 free spins.
- Collect your prizes: wins are added to your balance after each feature.
What We Changed in This Review
Our older review included a few points we’ve now tidied up or removed:
- Top prize: the old review gave two different jackpot figures, 2,000 coins and 50,000 coins. We couldn’t confirm either from Playtech, so we’ve removed them.
- Where to play: the old review recommended Mr Play Casino. That casino has since closed, so we’ve removed the recommendation.
- Game name: the game is often listed as Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train, so look for both names in casino lobbies.
Who Makes Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes?
The game comes from Ash Gaming, a UK studio that became part of Playtech. Ash Gaming was known for colourful, character-led slots and series such as Fairground Fortunes. Playtech is one of the biggest suppliers in online gambling, and it supplies games to a huge number of casinos.
If you enjoy Playtech’s lighter side, take a look at Dr Lovemore. It swaps the ghosts for a quirky love doctor, and it’s full of fun features.

Our Verdict
Ghost Train Fairground Fortunes is a cheerful, fairground-themed slot with two enjoyable features. The ghost train ride adds variety, and the free spins with stacked wilds give it real win potential. However, the RTP in our original review was on the low side, and we couldn’t confirm the game’s current details. If you find it at your casino, check the help screen first, then enjoy the ride.
