What Happened to the Witchcraft Academy Slot?
Witchcraft Academy was a magical adventure slot from NetEnt. It took you inside a school for witches and wizards, full of secret passages, spell books and dungeon puzzles. Fans of wizard stories loved it, and it was a popular pick around Halloween.
Today, though, Witchcraft Academy no longer appears among NetEnt’s games. We checked both of NetEnt’s game websites in October 2026, and neither has a page for it. Studios often retire older titles to make room for new releases.
So, rather than telling you where to play Witchcraft Academy, we’ll explain what made it special. We’ll also point you to similar NetEnt games that are still available.

The Story Behind the Slot
Witchcraft Academy followed two young students: Efora the witch and Earthan the wizard. Together, they explored a magic school full of secrets, spells and puzzles. The deeper they went, the more treasure they found, from gold coins to sparkling gems.
The idea will feel familiar to anyone who loves stories about schools of magic. In fact, our original review called it a treat for wizard story fans. Its mix of puzzles and spell-casting made it feel more like an adventure game than a simple slot.
Witchcraft Academy turned a slot into a magical school trip, with spell-casting puzzles and dungeons full of treasure.
Theme and Design
The reels sat inside a grand old school library, surrounded by scrolls, books and candlelight. The atmosphere was magical rather than scary. So, it suited players who wanted a Halloween feel without real horror.
The lower-paying symbols were potion bottles shaped like the four card suits: hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades. Meanwhile, the higher-paying symbols were Earthan, Efora, a dragon and an owl. Earthan was the top-paying symbol in our original review.
How the Witchcraft Academy Slot Worked
Based on our original review, the game used 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 paylines. You won by lining up matching symbols from left to right. Three types of special symbols drove the bonus features.
Wild Symbols
The wild stood in for regular symbols, but not for the scatter or the Bonus Spin symbol. Our original review said it could land on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5, both in the base game and the free spins.
The Elements Bonus
Three or more scatters started the Elements Bonus, which took place in a dark dungeon. Here, you aimed the wizard’s magic and fired element shots at the board. When a shot hit an armoured guard, he exploded and struck the symbols next to him.
This made the bonus feel like a puzzle. Every shot could clear more of the board and uncover prizes. In addition, hitting a scatter with a shot could unlock the free spins.
Free Spins
In the free spins, Bonus Spin symbols could add more spins to your total. Our original review listed these awards:
| Bonus Spin symbols | Extra free spins |
|---|---|
| 2 | 5 |
| 3 | 10 |
| 4 | 15 |
| 5 | 20 |
The free spins could also include overlay wild reels and a 2x multiplier. As a result, this was where the biggest wins in the game usually came from.
RTP and Betting
Our original review listed an RTP of 96.38%, with medium to high volatility. It also gave a bet range of $0.20 to $200 per spin. RTP stands for “return to player”. It’s the share of all bets a slot pays back over millions of spins.
Since NetEnt no longer lists the game, we can’t confirm these figures today. If you’re looking for strong-paying slots you can still play, see our list of the best paying slots.
Can You Still Play Witchcraft Academy?
It’s unlikely. Since NetEnt no longer lists the game, most casinos will have removed it from their lobbies. Even if you spot it somewhere, there’s no guarantee it will stay available.
Our older review also recommended Mason Slots Casino. That casino has since been blacklisted, so we’ve removed the recommendation. If you do find Witchcraft Academy at another casino, check its licence and the game’s help screen before you play.
NetEnt Slots to Play Instead
The good news is that NetEnt still offers several spooky and magical slots. We checked each of these on NetEnt’s website in October 2026.
Halloween Jack
Halloween Jack is a great choice if you liked Witchcraft Academy’s bonus upgrades. Its walking wilds give re-spins, and collecting lanterns in the free spins unlocks bigger wilds. NetEnt lists a 96.28% RTP and a 7,100x max payout.
Blood Suckers II
Blood Suckers II also has a pick-and-click bonus, set inside a vampire castle. It adds random features and free spins with tripled wins, with a 96.94% RTP.
What’s Up Witches
NetEnt’s newer What’s Up Witches is also listed on its website today. We haven’t reviewed it yet, but it’s worth a look if you enjoy a witchy theme.
Other Magical Slots to Try
If you’d like to look beyond NetEnt, RTG’s Bubble Bubble 2 stars two cheeky witch sisters and four different wilds. Quickspin’s Ghost Glyph offers friendly ghosts and clever urn features instead.
