Leander Games Is Now Part of RAW iGaming

Leander Games was a slot studio and game distribution platform. In April 2022, trade press reported that RAW iGaming had bought it. RAW iGaming is the company behind the SuperSlice engine.

The old Leander Games website no longer opens as a separate site. It now redirects to the RAW Group website. That site does not mention Leander Games by name.

This page keeps a record of the studio, its games and what we know about the change. Use it as a guide if you still see Leander titles at a casino.

Quick answer: Leander Games was acquired by RAW iGaming in April 2022. Its platform was later renamed RAW Arena. Some older Leander slots may still appear at casinos, but the studio no longer operates as its own brand online.

Leander Games Timeline

The timeline below mixes older notes from our earlier review with dated trade reports and RAW’s own news. We mark each source.

The last two rows show that RAW is still releasing new games. This helps explain why the Leander name has faded.

What Happened to Leander Games?

RAW iGaming announced that it had completed the acquisition of Leander Games in early April 2022. The price and terms were not disclosed.

RAW’s CEO Tom Wood said that Leander was one of the best distribution platforms in the industry. He wanted to bring RAW’s SuperSlice content to Leander’s customers in Europe and South America. Leander’s CEO, Steven Matsell, said the deal would start the next chapter for the company.

The reports also said that the game teams would be joined together. Leander’s platform was described as live in 13 regulated markets at the time.

In November 2022, RAW iGaming renamed the Leander LeGa platform as RAW Arena. It is an aggregation platform for studios and operators. The trade report does not say what happened to the Leander Games brand name.

We could not find a first-party statement from RAW Group about the Leander brand. As a result, we treat Leander as a legacy name that now sits inside RAW.

About RAW iGaming Today

RAW Group describes itself as a supplier of content and technology to licensed operators. It does not offer gambling directly to players. Two companies are named on its site.

  • RAW Operations Limited: registered in Malta, with a Malta Gaming Authority licence. The site also lists licences in Sweden, Denmark and Ontario, Canada.
  • Xterra Holdings Ltd: registered in the Bahamas. The site lists a UK Gambling Commission account and a Malta Gaming Authority recognition notice for this company.

Our earlier review said that Leander Games was the trading name of Xterra Games Ltd, a Bahamas company. The current RAW site names Xterra Holdings Ltd instead. We cannot confirm from the sources we checked whether these are the same entity.

RAW Group also states that it holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. That standard covers information security.

RAW’s current products include the following.

  • RAW Riches: a four-tier progressive jackpot that can run across an operator’s casino.
  • Smash Pots: quick jackpot games.
  • Bonus Rush: a slot format that puts most of its RTP into bonus rounds.
  • Yatzy: a multiplayer dice game for up to four players per table.
  • Single Player Arcade: casual single-player games.

Our page on the Malta Gaming Authority and our guide to the UK Gambling Commission explain how these regulators work.

Leander Games Slots: What We Recorded Before

Our earlier review described Leander as a studio with strong art, clear maths and a wide mix of themes. We cannot recheck every claim today, so treat the points below as historical.

  • Reel games: a series that used table game ideas, such as bingo, poker and roulette.
  • Video slots: mostly five reels with several paylines, free spins, sticky wilds, expanding wilds and multipliers.
  • Branded games: titles based on music acts such as Megadeth and Dolly Parton.
  • Jackpot games: titles such as Apollo God of the Sun and Dragon Slot Jackpot.
  • Mobile play: games built with HTML5 so that they work on phones.

Our earlier review also listed Alice Cooper, Cash Mix, Scrooge’s Jackpot, 3 Elements and 777 Wild Vegas among its games. It noted a 2013 award for social gaming supplier of the year. We could not verify these items from the current RAW site.

You can read our review of the Zombie Rush slot for one example of a Leander title.

Why Leander Was Different: The LeGa Platform

Leander was not only a studio. It also ran the LeGa remote gaming server, which is known as an RGS. An RGS hosts the game maths and sends results to the casino.

An aggregator like LeGa lets a casino plug in many studios through a single connection. This saves time for the operator. It also gives studios a faster route to new markets.

Our earlier review said LeGa supported more than 30 languages. It also said a distribution deal with Pala Interactive took the company into North America. We could not confirm either point from current sources.

The 2022 reports explain why RAW wanted the platform. It gave the company a ready-made channel to casinos in regulated markets. RAW Arena now sits in that role.

What the Change Means for Players

If you play at an online casino, the change matters in a few ways.

  • Game availability: older Leander slots may be removed or replaced over time.
  • New content: you are more likely to see RAW titles such as Bonus Rush games.
  • Rules and RTP: the RTP of a game can differ by casino. Always open the game info panel before you play.
  • Licensing: check that the casino itself holds a valid licence for your country.

If you cannot find an old favourite, try the casino search tool or ask live chat. Many casinos list games by studio name, but that name might now be RAW.

Check game availability and bonus terms before you join a casino. Some bonuses exclude certain slots, so read the rules.

How to Check a Slot’s Details

Whatever studio made your slot, the same checks apply. They take a minute and help you avoid surprises.

  • Open the game information screen and look for the RTP.
  • Check the volatility rating if the casino shows one.
  • Read the bonus terms for any limit on max bet or game choice.
  • Try the demo version first, where your country allows it.
  • Set a deposit limit before you start.

RTP is the share of stakes a slot returns over a very long time. It does not predict a short session. A slot with a 96% RTP will not give back R96 for every R100 you play in one sitting.

Leander Games Pros and Cons

Pros (historical) Cons
Wide mix of themes and branded games No longer operates as a separate brand
Fast mobile-friendly design Current game list is unclear
Strong distribution platform Brand history is only partly documented online
Now backed by a licensed group Some older titles may vanish from casinos
Topboss Group verdict: Leander Games is now part of RAW iGaming. The name still matters for older slots, but new content comes under the RAW brand. Check each game’s details at your casino, and play within a budget.
