Flame Busters Slot Review
Flame Busters is a firefighting slot from Thunderkick. It looks like a 1980s arcade game, with chunky pixel art and bright colours. The hero is Roasty McFry, and his team of Flame Busters must save the tenants of a burning building.
The game has five reels and 243 ways to win. Thunderkick lists an RTP of 96.1% and high volatility. The features include wilds, Fire symbols, a Fire Drill feature and a bonus game with free spins.
Thunderkick’s game page confirms those facts. Our original review adds details about the free spins and the bet range. We mark which figures come from Thunderkick and which come from our original review.

Theme And Presentation
Flame Busters is a tribute to the golden age of arcade games. The graphics use a pixelated style that feels like the 1980s. Bright colours and a playful mood keep everything light.
The story is simple. A burning building is full of odd tenants, and Roasty McFry and his crew must save them. Toasty the Cat is among those in need of rescue.
The mood stays cheerful throughout. The game is thrilling, yet it never feels grim. That mix has made it a favourite among Thunderkick fans.
Flame Busters Symbols
The symbol set is full of characters. According to our original review, the high-paying symbols are Roasty McFry, the Fire Fighter, Toasty the Cat, an alien, Goat Boy, a pirate, a robot and a wizard. The lower values are card-style coins marked T, J, Q, K and A.
The Fire symbol is special. It appears during the bonus and changes into other symbols. Thunderkick confirms that Fire symbols are part of the game.
| Symbol | Role |
|---|---|
| Roasty McFry, Fire Fighter, Toasty the Cat | Main characters, high value |
| Alien, Goat Boy, Pirate, Robot, Wizard | Tenants, medium to high value |
| Coins marked T, J, Q, K, A | Lower values |
| Orange W | Wild |
| Alarm Bell | Scatter, triggers the bonus |
| Fire | Mystery symbol that transforms |
The Orange W Wild
The wild is an orange W. It replaces other symbols to build winning combinations, except the scatter. With 243 ways to win, a wild can complete several wins on one spin.
Alarm Bell Scatter And The Bonus Game
The scatter is an alarm bell. Land three or more, and the bonus game starts. Thunderkick describes it as a bonus game with free spins.
Our original review gives the starting spins. Three bells award 10 free spins, four award 15 and five award 20. The bells you land are collected as you climb the building.
Every three scatters collected unlock a new floor. Each floor adds 2 extra free spins. There are five floors, so you can win up to 10 extra spins, which brings the total to 30.
| Alarm bells landed | Starting free spins |
|---|---|
| 3 | 10 |
| 4 | 15 |
| 5 | 20 |
Fire Symbols And The Fire Drill
The Fire symbols are the most original part of the game. Our original review says that each time you unlock a floor, the lowest-value coin turns into a Fire symbol. Reach the top floor, and all five coins become Fire.
Fire symbols then change into other symbols. They do not transform into the scatter or the wild. As a result, the longer your climb, the fewer low-value symbols are left to land.
Thunderkick also lists a Fire Drill feature. Our original review does not use that name. We call the mechanic above the coin ignition, as in our original text. Check the in-game rules to see exactly how the Fire Drill works in your casino version.
Autoplay
Autoplay lets the reels spin on their own. Our original review lists settings from 5 to 5,000 spins. That is a very large range, so use it with care.
Set a loss limit before you start autoplay. Without one, the spins can run long. Many casinos also add their own autoplay rules.
RTP And Volatility
Thunderkick lists an RTP of 96.1% and high volatility. The RTP is a little above the usual average for online slots. High volatility means wins arrive less often, but they can be larger.
RTP is a long-term average, so it cannot predict a single session. Our guide to RTP and online slots explains the idea in plain English.
Betting Range
Our original review lists bets from 0.20 to 200.00. That suits careful players and high rollers. A small stake gives you more spins to reach the bonus, which matters on a high volatility game.
Playing On Mobile
Thunderkick builds its slots for desktop and mobile play. The bright pixel art and large symbols suit a phone screen. Check that your casino offers the mobile version before you play.
How To Play Flame Busters
- Open the game info and check the RTP and paytable.
- Choose a bet that fits your budget.
- Watch for alarm bell scatters on the reels.
- Climb the building floor by floor in the bonus.
- Stop when you reach your budget or time limit.
Tips For Flame Busters
No tip can change the odds, because every spin is random. A few habits help you enjoy the game.
Try the demo first, if your casino offers one. It shows how the floors and Fire symbols work.
Keep your bet modest. High volatility can drain a bankroll during a dry spell.
Do not use large autoplay settings without a loss limit. Finally, set a budget and a time limit before you start.
How to Approach a 243 Ways Slot
A 243 ways slot has no fixed paylines. Matching symbols pay when they land on adjacent reels from the left, in any position. That makes wins easier to form than on a slot with a handful of lines.
The stake covers every way on every spin. You do not choose lines, so there is nothing to switch off. This keeps the game simple, and each spin has the same structure.
Because wins form more often, many are small. They keep your balance moving between features. The larger payouts come from the bonus rounds and from strong symbol combinations.
Choosing a Stake
Pick a stake that gives you a few hundred spins. This gives the features time to appear. Do not chase losses with a higher stake. Slots are random, and a recent loss does not make a win more likely.
Try the demo first if your casino has one. It shows how often the bonus appears and how the pixel art animates. It costs nothing, and it helps you decide if the game suits you.
