Small Fortune Slot Overview
Small Fortune is a cheerful picnic slot from Real Time Gaming. You head to the park for a sunny day out, but a crowd of hungry ants has other plans. The more food they steal, the bigger your fortune can grow.
The game plays on 5 reels with 25 paylines. It’s also a random progressive slot, with two jackpots that can drop at the end of any spin.
The ants are the stars. A pair of ants acts as the wild, and they also help start the free spins. A girl at the picnic is the scatter, paying out wherever she lands.

Theme and Design
Small Fortune turns a simple picnic into a comedy. Ants march across the blanket, chasing pies, cakes and sandwiches.
Our original review praised the high-quality graphics. It also liked the soundtrack, which captures a lazy summer feel. It’s a light, friendly game that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Betting Range
Our original review listed bets from $0.01 up to $5.00. That makes Small Fortune a good choice for players on a smaller budget.
Coin sizes and limits can differ between casinos. Check the help screen before you play to see the exact range.
Small Fortune Symbols
Our original review said there are 10 themed symbols, plus 3 bonus symbols. The tasty treats are the main payers.
The pie is the ants’ favourite dish. Our original review said five pies on a line pay 1,250x your line bet. The game’s top award is 7,500x your bet per line. Other picnic foods and items fill out the rest of the paytable.
The Ant Wilds
The wild is a pair of ants. They stand in for every symbol except the scatter, helping you complete more winning lines.
The ants have a second job, too. They play a key part in starting the free spins, as explained below.
The Picnic Girl Scatter
The scatter is a girl enjoying her picnic. Scatters pay wherever they land, so they don’t need to line up on a payline.
Scatter wins are multiplied by your total bet and added to any line wins. Our original review listed some scatter amounts that didn’t add up, so we’ve left them out. Check the paytable in the game for the current figures.
Free Spins Feature
To start the free spins, you need an ant wild on reel 1 and on reel 5. You also need at least 1 picnic basket on reels 2, 3 or 4.
| What you need | Where it must land |
|---|---|
| Ant wilds | Reels 1 and 5 |
| 1 or more picnic baskets | Reels 2, 3 or 4 |
| Free spins won | 5 for each picnic basket |
You win 5 free spins for each picnic basket in the trigger. So, three baskets would give you 15 spins. Our original review also said a multiplier applies, and that the round can retrigger.
The Random Progressive Jackpots
Small Fortune has two progressive jackpots, a Minor and a Major. They’re random, which means they can drop at the end of any spin.
You don’t need special symbols to win them. Every bet adds a little to the jackpots, so they keep growing until someone wins. Then they reset and start climbing again.
How to Play Small Fortune
- Check your casino’s lobby: make sure the game is available.
- Set your stake: check the bet range in the help screen.
- Spin the reels: wins pay across 25 lines.
- Watch reels 1 and 5: you need ant wilds there for free spins.
- Look for picnic baskets: at least 1 on reels 2, 3 or 4.
Who Is Small Fortune Best For?
Small Fortune suits casual players who want a light-hearted game with a jackpot twist. The low minimum bet makes it easy to try.
It’s a good fit if you:
- Like funny themes: ants, picnics and plenty of food.
- Play on a small budget: bets started from $0.01 in our original review.
- Enjoy jackpot chances: two random progressives on every spin.
If you want a big bonus round with lots of spins, other games may suit you better.
Tips for Playing Small Fortune
- Know the free spins rule: ant wilds must land on reels 1 and 5.
- Hope for extra baskets: each one adds 5 free spins.
- Remember the jackpots: they can drop on any spin.
- Check the RTP: look in the help screen at your casino.
- Set a budget: decide your limit before you start.
Where to Play Small Fortune
Our original review said the game was popular at Apollo Slots and White Lotus Casino. Both are RTG casinos that welcome South African players.
Game lobbies change over time. Search for Small Fortune at your casino before you deposit.
How Random Progressive Jackpots Work
Some progressive jackpots need special symbols or a bonus game. Random progressives are different. They can strike at the end of any paid spin, whatever symbols land.
That makes them simple to follow. You don’t need to do anything special, except play. Part of each bet funds the jackpots, so it’s included in the game’s overall RTP. For another jackpot game, read our Mega Glam Life review.
About Real Time Gaming
Real Time Gaming has been making casino games since the late 1990s. Its slots are especially popular at casinos for players in the USA and South Africa.
Many RTG games, like Small Fortune, include a random progressive jackpot. Today, RTG’s games are supplied by SpinLogic Gaming.
Why Food Slots Are So Popular
Food makes a fun slot theme. Pies, cakes and fruit are bright, colourful and instantly familiar.
Small Fortune adds a bit of humour by making the ants the heroes. Instead of chasing them away, you want them to raid the picnic. It’s a playful idea that gives the game its own personality.
Playing on Mobile
Our original review said Small Fortune works on both desktop and mobile devices. If your casino offers it, you should be able to play in your phone’s browser.
