Chocolates Slot Overview
Chocolates is a sweet-themed slot from Big Time Gaming. It follows on from the studio’s earlier Donuts slot and keeps the same simple 4×4 look. Underneath, though, it hides some very big win potential.
The story stars Jose Cavadore, the hero of several Big Time Gaming games. After running gold mines and chilli stands, Jose heads to a town near the Swiss and German border. There, among the cuckoo clocks, he sets up as a master chocolatier.
Big Time Gaming lists the RTP at 96.60%. The game uses the studio’s ExtraWays feature, with chocolate boxes that add extra symbols. In the free spins, the boxes turn sticky, and the number of ways can climb to 65,536.

Theme and Design
Chocolates is set in a cosy chocolate shop. The reels are filled with glossy chocolates in bright wrappers, and a cuckoo clock watches over the action. When you land a big win, the clock chimes.
The look is simple and clean, much like Donuts. Big Time Gaming describes it as a simplified version of its popular ways format, with big payouts underneath. That makes it easy for new players to follow, while still appealing to high rollers.
The story adds a bit of fun. Jose’s earlier ventures include the Bonanza gold mine and the Extra Chilli stand. Fans of those games will enjoy spotting the links.
How the Ways Work
Chocolates starts on a 4×4 grid. Matching symbols on neighbouring reels, from left to right, form a win. Each extra symbol on a reel adds more ways to win.
This is where the chocolate boxes come in. When a box lands, it opens to reveal up to four matching symbols. Big Time Gaming calls this ExtraWays. In our original review, boxes in the base game could push the ways up to 2,401.
In the free spins, the boxes stick in place. As more boxes land, the grid fills up and the ways can climb as high as 65,536.
Betting, RTP and Volatility
Big Time Gaming lists the RTP at 96.60%. That’s a little above the online average of about 96%.
Our original review listed a bet range of $0.10 to $20 per spin. Big Time Gaming confirms the low minimum bet. The game was rated as high volatility, so expect quieter spells between the bigger wins.
Our original review also gave the top win as 65,536x your stake. As with all Big Time Gaming games, check the help screen at your casino for the exact limits.
Chocolates Symbols
The symbols are split into two groups:
- Chocolates: four higher-paying chocolate symbols, with purple at the top.
- Card royals: Ace down to 9, which pay smaller amounts more often.
- Wild: substitutes for regular symbols.
- Golden Ticket wild: a wild with a multiplier.
- Cuckoo clock: the scatter that triggers the free spins.
Our original review said four purple chocolates paid an amount equal to your total stake. Bigger wins come from more ways and from the multiplier wilds.
Chocolates Bonus Features
Big Time Gaming lists five key features:
- ExtraWays: chocolate boxes add extra symbols and ways to win.
- Sticky Boxes: in the free spins, boxes stay in place to build big wins.
- Multiplier wilds: Golden Ticket wilds boost your wins.
- Cuckoo clock: chimes when big wins land.
- Unlimited retriggers: the free spins can keep going.
Golden Ticket Multiplier Wilds
Chocolates has two wilds. The standard wild replaces regular symbols to help form wins. The Golden Ticket wild does the same, but it also adds a multiplier.
Our original review listed this as a 6x multiplier. If more than one Golden Ticket wild is part of the same win, the multipliers combine. That can turn a small win into a very large one.
Chocolate Boxes
A chocolate box can land on any spin. When it does, it opens to show up to four matching symbols. All of them count towards a win if they’re part of a winning combination.
Free Spins with Sticky Boxes
The cuckoo clock is the scatter. In our original review, 3 or 4 clocks awarded 7 or 10 free spins. They also paid 6x or 20x your stake straight away.
During the free spins, every chocolate box sticks to the grid. One of the triggering scatters also turns into a box to get you started. Filling a whole reel with boxes adds extra spins.
Big Time Gaming confirms that retriggers are unlimited. Our original review said something special happens once boxes fill a full row. Every free spin after that is a winner.
How to Play Chocolates
- Check the help screen: confirm the RTP and bet range at your casino.
- Set your stake: the low minimum bet suits a long session.
- Spin the reels: wins pay left to right on neighbouring reels.
- Look for boxes: they open to reveal extra matching symbols.
- Land the cuckoo clocks: 3 or more start the free spins with sticky boxes.
Who Is Chocolates Best For?
Chocolates suits players who like a simple-looking game with big potential. The small grid is easy to follow, and the sticky boxes make the free spins exciting to watch.
It’s a good fit if you:
- Enjoy Big Time Gaming slots: it shares the studio’s style and humour.
- Like growing bonus rounds: the grid builds up as boxes stick.
- Are comfortable with high volatility: big wins are possible, but not frequent.
If you prefer a busy base game with lots of features, you may find the base game a little quiet.

Our Verdict
Chocolates is a sweet little slot with a big bite. The 4×4 grid keeps things simple, but the sticky boxes and multiplier wilds can build some huge wins. With a 96.60% RTP and unlimited retriggers, the free spins are well worth chasing. If you enjoyed Donuts, or just like a slot that builds as you play, give Chocolates a spin.
