Big Shot Slot Overview
Big Shot is a Hollywood-themed slot from Real Time Gaming, better known as RTG. It pokes fun at the life of a movie star who thinks the world revolves around him. Mr Big Shot struts down the red carpet with his red sports car and a glamorous blonde on his arm.
The game is simple to play, with 5 reels and 20 paylines. However, it packs in some exciting extras. These include free spins with multipliers and a random progressive jackpot that can land on any spin.
| Provider | Real Time Gaming (now SpinLogic Gaming) |
| Layout | 5 reels, 3 rows, 20 paylines |
| Theme | Hollywood movie stars and celebrity life |
| Wild | Superstar, on reels 2, 3 and 4 |
| Free spins | Triggered by Big Shot symbols on reels 1 and 5 |
| Jackpot | Random progressive, can land on any spin |
| RTP | Varies by casino, so check the game’s info screen |
Theme and Design
Big Shot is set in Hollywood at sunset. Palm trees, rolling hills and a red carpet fill the background, giving the game a glitzy, awards-night feel. The music adds to the mood, with a grand, red-carpet style score.
The reels are designed to look like a strip of film. The symbols are drawn in a fun caricature style. You’ll see film clappers, film canisters, sports cars, glamorous stars and shiny award statues.
Mr Big Shot himself is the star of the show. He’s overconfident, a little arrogant and only interested in his own privileged life. As a result, the game has a cheeky, tongue-in-cheek sense of humour.
Big Shot doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a lighthearted look at celebrity life, with a random jackpot that could make you feel like a star too.
How to Play Big Shot
Big Shot is easy to get started with. First, choose your coin size and how many paylines to play. Then press spin.
You win by lining up matching symbols from left to right along an active payline. There are 20 paylines in total. Bet limits depend on the casino, so check the range where you play.
There’s also an AutoPlay option. It spins the reels automatically for a number of rounds you choose, and you can stop it at any time.
Big Shot Symbols
The symbols all fit the Hollywood theme. The higher-paying symbols include the stars, sports cars and award statues. Lower-paying symbols include the film clapper and film canister.
Superstar Wild
The Superstar is the Wild symbol. It only lands on reels 2, 3 and 4. When it appears, it substitutes for other symbols to help complete winning lines. However, it doesn’t replace the scatter or the Big Shot symbol.
Award Statue Scatter
The golden award statue is the scatter symbol. It pays out wherever it lands on the reels, so it doesn’t need to be on a payline. Land five of them, and you win up to 100x your total bet.
Free Spins Bonus
The free spins bonus is triggered by the Big Shot symbol. This symbol only appears on reels 1 and 5. To start the bonus, you need it to land on both of those reels at the same time.
When the bonus begins, you’re awarded a number of free spins, up to a maximum of 20. Your free spins also come with a multiplier. The more free spins you win, the bigger the multiplier, with a top multiplier of up to 20x.
During the free spins, the Big Shot symbol also acts as an extra Wild on reels 1 and 5. This gives you more chances to land big wins while the multiplier is active. However, the free spins can’t be retriggered.
Random Progressive Jackpot
Big Shot also features a random progressive jackpot. It can be triggered at the end of any spin, whether or not that spin wins. There’s no special symbol combination needed.
The current jackpot amount is shown at the top of the screen. It grows over time until someone wins it, then resets to a starting amount.
Progressive jackpots are exciting, but the odds of winning one are very low. So it’s best to treat the jackpot as a fun bonus rather than a reason to play.
RTP and Volatility
RTG doesn’t publish a fixed RTP for Big Shot on its website, and casinos can run different versions. Because of this, the RTP may vary from one casino to the next. To find the exact figure, open the game’s help or information screen at the casino where you play.
RTP stands for “return to player”. It’s the share of all bets a slot pays back over millions of spins. For example, a 95% RTP means the game pays back around $95 for every $100 bet over the long run.
Big Shot tends to feel quite volatile. The free spins can take some time to arrive, but they can pay well when they do. If you’re looking for high-paying games, our list of the best paying slots is a good place to start.
