Theme and Design
The game is set in the land of the Amazons. Warrior women, treasure and fire fill the reels. Gold, emeralds, sapphires and rubies make up the riches you’re chasing.
Our original review called the game visually superb. The soundtrack is the real highlight, with an epic, movie-style score. It’s a strong example of Side City Studios’ cinematic style.
Paylines, Betting and RTP
Fortunes of the Amazons has 50 paylines across 5 reels. Wins pay along the active lines.
Our original review listed coin sizes of 1 to 5 per line, with bets from 1.00 to 62.50 per spin. That’s a higher minimum than many slots, so it suits mid-range budgets best.
The RTP was 95.80%, which is a little below the online average of about 96%. Our guide to the highest RTP slots explains why this figure matters. Over a very long time, a lower RTP means the game pays back a little less. In any single session, results can still swing either way.
Fortunes of the Amazons Symbols
Our original review listed these key symbols:
- Flaming wild: substitutes for all symbols except the two scatters. Five pay 2,500x your stake in our original review.
- Amazon on horseback: the scatter that starts the free spins.
- Bonus Wheel logo: the scatter that starts the Luna Bonus Wheel.
- Gold, emeralds, sapphires and rubies: the treasure symbols.
The flaming wild is also the top-paying symbol. Five of them across a line can lead to a very good win.
Fortunes of the Amazons Bonus Features
The game has three features, which our original review called a trio of warrior winnings.
Fire Feature
The Fire Feature is a mystery feature. It can trigger at random after any spin in the base game.
When it does, you get 1 free spin with 4 wilds added to the reels as they spin. Four extra wilds can create several wins at once.
Free Spins with Locking Wilds
Land the Amazon on horseback scatter on the three middle reels to trigger this feature. You get 5 free spins.
On each free spin, one wild is added to the reels at random. That wild locks in place until the feature ends. By your last free spin, you’ll have 5 wilds on the reels.
Our original review said the biggest wins come from this feature.
Luna Bonus Wheel
Land the Bonus Wheel logo on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time to start this feature. Two wheels spin together.
The outer wheel awards a cash prize. The inner wheel awards a multiplier. Our original review said you can win up to 500x your stake from the Luna Bonus Wheel.
How to Play Fortunes of the Amazons
- Check your casino’s lobby: make sure the game is still available.
- Read the help screen: confirm the RTP and bet range.
- Set your stake: bets ran from 1.00 to 62.50 in our original review.
- Spin the reels: the Fire Feature can trigger at random.
- Find the scatters: Amazons on the middle reels start the free spins.
Who Is Fortunes of the Amazons Best For?
Fortunes of the Amazons suits players who enjoy cinematic slots with several features. The mix of random wilds, locking wilds and a bonus wheel keeps things varied.
It’s a good fit if you:
- Love mythology: the Amazon warriors make a bold theme.
- Enjoy locking wilds: the free spins build up as you go.
- Play with a mid-range budget: the minimum bet is 1.00.
If you prefer very low stakes, the minimum bet may be too high.
Tips for Playing Fortunes of the Amazons
- Watch the middle reels: that’s where the Amazon scatters need to land.
- Enjoy the Fire Feature: it can add 4 wilds at any time.
- Look for the wheel logos: they need to land on reels 1, 3 and 5.
- Mind the minimum bet: at 1.00, your budget may not last as long.
- Set limits: decide your budget before you start.
Understanding the Two Scatters
Fortunes of the Amazons has two different scatter symbols. Each one starts a different feature, so it’s worth knowing which is which.
The Amazon on horseback starts the free spins. She needs to land on the three middle reels at the same time. The Bonus Wheel logo starts the Luna Bonus Wheel. It needs to land on reels 1, 3 and 5.
Neither scatter can be replaced by the flaming wild. That keeps both features fairly rare.
Who Should Skip Fortunes of the Amazons?
If you play on a small budget, the 1.00 minimum bet may be too high. Players chasing huge jackpots may also prefer a game with a progressive prize. The RTP is a little below average too, which matters over long sessions.
A Note on Our Original Review
Our original review included a section that described a different game. It mentioned dinosaur eggs, a masked pig and capsule symbols. Those details belong to Coin Conqueror, not Fortunes of the Amazons, so we’ve removed them. You can read about that game in our Coin Conqueror review.
About Side City Studios
Side City Studios made games for NextGen Gaming, including the neon-styled Egyptian Rise. Its games are now part of Light & Wonder. Our Side City Studios page covers more of its slots.
Playing on Mobile
Our original review said the game plays on desktop and mobile. If your casino still offers it, it should run in your phone’s browser.
What We Changed in This Review
- Status note: we’ve added that we couldn’t confirm the game is still offered.
- Corrected content: we’ve removed a section that described Coin Conqueror by mistake.
- Figures: we’ve marked the RTP, bet range and prizes as coming from our original review.

Our Verdict
Fortunes of the Amazons is a cinematic slot with a great soundtrack and three solid features. The locking wilds build nicely through the free spins, and the Luna Wheel adds variety. The RTP is a little low and the minimum bet is high. If your casino still offers it, it’s a fun adventure for fans of myth and legend.
