Casoola Casino South Africa: Original Casino Closed
Why the original casino closed and what we can and cannot verify about the relaunch
What Happened to Casoola Casino?
The Casoola we reviewed for South African players was a Genesis Global brand. That company was wound up, and the original casino closed. We have marked our listing as closed and no longer recommend it.
The Casoola name has since appeared again at casoola.com. We have not been able to verify who runs the new site or which licence it holds. For that reason, we do not list it as a casino to play at.
Quick facts
- Original operator: Genesis Global Limited (Malta)
- Original licences: Malta Gaming Authority and UK Gambling Commission
- Launched: February 2020
- Malta licence: Cancelled 11 January 2024
- Status on Topboss Group: Closed
The Genesis Global Closure
Genesis Global Limited ran several casino brands from Malta. In January 2023, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) suspended the company. It said Genesis could no longer carry out gaming operations or take new players and deposits, because the company was being wound up.
The MGA then cancelled the authorisation on 11 January 2024. Its notice said it was assisting a liquidator to return player funds. It also required the company to remove all references to the MGA from its sites.
Our guide to the Malta Gaming Authority explains how the regulator works and what players can expect from it.
The Casoola Name Is Back, But Not the Same Business
When we checked casoola.com in October 2026, the site loaded and showed casino and sports sections. However, its page for South African players no longer exists. The site also showed a New Zealand version instead.
As a result, we cannot treat it as the casino we reviewed. The operator and licence details on the new site could not be confirmed from a source we trust. Until that changes, we will not promote it.

What the Original Casoola Offered
Casoola launched in February 2020 with a robot mascot and a large game library. South African players could open a rand account and pay by EasyEFT, cards and e-wallets. The minimum deposit was R150.
The welcome package was spread over four deposits. It was worth up to R22,500, plus 200 free spins. A 40x wagering requirement applied. The casino also ran weekly reload bonuses and a VIP programme.
The games came from providers such as Yggdrasil, Thunderkick, Playson, Big Time Gaming and Red Tiger. Live games came from Evolution. We keep this for reference only, because none of it can be claimed now. You can still read about Gonzo’s Quest Megaways, one of the slots it featured.
If You Had an Account at the Original Casoola
The liquidator handles claims from the Genesis Global closure. Keep any emails, balances and transaction records you have. Do not pay anyone who offers to recover your money for a fee.
Players from India can read what happened to the brand in our Casoola Casino India page. Our Genesis Casino South Africa page covers the sister brand.
Where South African Players Can Look Instead

FAQs
Is Casoola still open?
The casino we reviewed has closed. A site using the Casoola name is online, but we could not verify its operator or licence, so we do not recommend it.
Why did the original Casoola close?
Its operator, Genesis Global, was wound up. The MGA suspended it in January 2023 and cancelled its authorisation in January 2024.
Can South African players still claim the R22,500 bonus?
No. That offer belonged to the original casino and is no longer available.
Is the new Casoola the same company?
We have no verified link between the two. The new site may be run by a different business.
