Bovada Casino Review
Blacklisted: why we do not recommend it and where to look instead
Bovada Casino Review: Why We Blacklisted It
Bovada Casino is an offshore casino that has long focused on US players. It was once known as Bodog Casino. Topboss Group blacklisted it in August 2020, and it remains on our blacklist.
This page keeps the casino’s history on record. It is not an invitation to play. If you are thinking of depositing, please read the sections below first.

Why Bovada Casino Is Blacklisted
We do not blacklist casinos lightly. Bovada landed on the list for three connected reasons.
Non-Payment of Winnings
Players play at a casino to win and cash out. When winnings go unpaid, trust breaks down fast. Our records include cases of unpaid winnings.
Numerous Complaints
A single complaint can have many causes. A steady stream of similar complaints is different. It points to a pattern, and that pattern counted against Bovada.
No Valid Licence
A licence is not a guarantee of fair treatment. It does give players somewhere to take a dispute. When we blacklisted Bovada in 2020, we found it was operating without a valid licence. That left players with little recourse.
A casino that cannot show a valid licence gives you no independent body to turn to when something goes wrong.
A Note on Our Information
Bovada’s own website is not something we can open reliably from our end. As a result, we have not re-verified its current games, bonuses or payment methods. We have kept only what we recorded earlier, and we label it as historical.
If Bovada’s terms have changed since, that is not reflected here. We will update this page if we can confirm new facts from a reliable source.
What Bovada Casino Offered
The details below come from our earlier review. Treat them as history, not as a current offer.
Slots
The casino listed more than 150 games. These included 3-reel classic slots and multi-line video slots. Titles we recorded included Aztec Treasure, Big Shot, Caesar’s Empire, Cleopatra’s Gold, Dirty Martini, Fruit Frenzy, Jazz Time, Hydro Heat, Light Speed, Paris Beauty, Rain Dance, Shopping Spree, Treasure Chamber and Witches & Wizards.
Software came from RealTime Gaming and Rival.
Table Games and Card Games
The table game list included baccarat, craps, roulette, Casino Hold ’em and Let ‘Em Ride. Card games included blackjack, Pai Gow Poker, Caribbean Stud Poker, Tri Card Poker and Vegas Three Card Rummy.
Video Poker
Bovada offered single-hand and multi-hand video poker. Variants included Bonus Deuces Wild, Double Double Bonus Poker, Jacks or Better, Joker Poker and Sevens Wild.
Progressive Jackpots
Progressive jackpots ran on several games. These included slots, Let ‘Em Ride and Caribbean Stud Poker. At one point the casino advertised prizes of up to $2 million.
Welcome Bonus Last Recorded
Our last record showed a three-part welcome package. Each of the first three deposits earned a 100% match up to $1,000. The playthrough was 25x, and live dealer games did not count.
We have not confirmed that this offer is still running. Please do not rely on it.
A Look Back at Bovada News
We kept some news items from earlier years. They show how the casino presented itself.
February 2018
Bovada announced that its site was available in Simplified Chinese.
August 2015
A player from California reported a $131,490 win on the table poker game Let ‘Em Ride. The player hit a royal flush on the flop. The casino promoted the win at the time.
A big win story is not proof that a casino pays reliably. For that reason, we judge casinos on payout history and licensing, not on headlines.
Is Bovada Casino Safe?
We cannot call it safe. Our blacklist reasons are about payouts, complaints and licensing. Those are the three areas that matter most.
The casino is also aimed at US players. Rules differ widely between US states, so legal status can be complicated. Check the rules where you live before you play at any offshore site.
Offshore Casinos and US Players
Many casinos that accept US players operate from outside the United States. Some hold a licence from an offshore regulator. Others hold none at all.
This matters because US players have fewer protections at these sites. If a payout is refused, you may have no regulator to call. In many cases, you must rely on the casino’s own support team.
As a result, the licence check becomes even more important. Always look for the regulator’s name and a licence number. Then confirm it on the regulator’s own website, not just on the casino’s page.
How We Handle Blacklisted Casinos
We use the blacklist as a warning, not as a punishment. A casino lands there when the evidence points to a real risk for players. We look at payout reports, licence status and the way the casino treats complaints.
We also keep these pages online on purpose. Players still search for blacklisted names. A clear warning on a search result can stop a bad deposit. If a casino fixes its problems and shows proof, we will review its status.
Questions to Ask Before You Deposit
A few minutes of checking can save a lot of trouble. Ask yourself these questions before you join any casino:
- Who owns the casino, and where is the company based?
- Which regulator issued the licence, and can I verify it?
- How long do withdrawals take, according to the terms?
- Are there withdrawal limits that apply to big wins?
- What do recent players say about payouts?
If you cannot answer most of these, treat that as a warning in itself.
If You Want to Report a Problem
If a casino has treated you unfairly, report it. Start by writing to the casino and keeping every reply. If that fails, follow the steps on our casino complaints page. Include dates, amounts and screenshots. Clear facts help you, and they help us review a casino fairly.
Why Reviews Need Regular Updates
Online casinos change quickly. Owners, software, licences and payment methods can all shift within a year. A review that was fair in 2019 may be wrong today. For that reason, we revisit older pages. We also say clearly what we have and have not been able to check.
What to Do if You Already Have Funds at Bovada
Take these steps if you have an account:
- Request a withdrawal of your full balance as soon as possible.
- Save screenshots of your balance, bonus terms and chat logs.
- Keep your deposit and withdrawal receipts.
- Do not make any new deposits while a withdrawal is pending.
- Ask your bank or card provider about your options if a payment goes missing.
Our page on casino complaints explains how to raise a problem the right way.
Warning Signs to Watch For at Any Casino
Bovada’s story offers a useful checklist. Watch for these signs at any online casino:
- No clear licence details in the footer.
- Slow or repeated delays on withdrawals.
- Bonus terms that are hard to find or keep changing.
- Many players reporting the same problem.
- Support that stops replying once you ask to cash out.
Our guide to casino bonus terms shows what to check before you accept an offer.
Safer Ways to Find a Casino as a US Player
We do not list a Bovada replacement here, because we cannot confirm that any casino accepts players from your state. Instead, start with these guides:
- Browse our hub of online casinos for US players.
- Read how USPlayerCheck helps Americans find legal online casinos.
- Learn about sweepstakes casinos, which work under different rules.
- Read what to know before playing at an online casino.
Playing Safely and Responsibly
Set a budget before you play. Never gamble with money you need for bills. Take regular breaks, and stop if it stops being fun.
Most reputable casinos offer deposit limits and self-exclusion. Our responsible gambling page lists support options.
