AfriCasino Has Closed

AfriCasino was an online casino aimed at South African players. It accepted rand and offered an Afrikaans version of its site. We no longer list it, and we do not recommend it.

When we checked, its old address africasino.co.za forwarded visitors to a different website. We could not find a closure notice from the operator. As a result, we cannot confirm exactly when or why the casino closed.

AfriCasino at a Glance

Detail What we know
Status Closed. The old address forwards to another website.
Old website africasino.co.za
Operator named in our records Equinox Dynamic N.V. We could not confirm this today.
Licence named in our records Curaçao. We could not confirm this today.
Opened 2016 or 2017. Our older records disagree.
Currency South African rand (ZAR), according to our earlier review.
Closure date and reason Not confirmed.

What We Know About the Closure

We opened africasino.co.za in a browser to see what it shows today. The address did not load a casino. It sent us to a different domain, which showed a security check before any page content. We did not go further, and we did not try to get past that check.

That is useful evidence, but it is not an official statement. The operator has not published a closure notice that we could find. Because of this, we cannot give you a closing date. We also cannot say whether the casino shut down, was sold or simply dropped the address.

Our earlier review named Equinox Dynamic N.V. as the owner. It also said the casino held a Curaçao licence. We have not been able to check either detail against a current official source. Treat them as historical.

If You Had an Account at AfriCasino

If you played at AfriCasino, start by checking your own records. Look for the welcome email, deposit receipts and any emails about withdrawals. These show which company handled your account.

Next, check your bank or card statement for the last payments you made. Keep screenshots and emails in one folder. If money is still owed to you, contact the support address shown in those emails. Keep it polite and clear, and give your username and the dates involved.

Please be careful if someone contacts you offering to recover your balance. Do not pay fees to get your own money back. Do not share your card details or passwords. If a deposit was made by card, your bank may be able to explain what options exist.

The Old R300 Offer Is Not Available

Our earlier review promoted a R300 no deposit offer with the bonus code PLAY300. That offer is no longer available, because the casino is closed. Please do not look for that code or for similar offers under the AfriCasino name.

The same warning applies to any site that claims to be AfriCasino today. If an address looks similar, treat it with suspicion. Always check the operator and licence before you register.

What the Casino Used to Offer

Our earlier review described AfriCasino as an African-themed casino with a colourful design. It said the site worked on desktop and mobile. It also said the site came in Afrikaans and French. These are historical claims, and we cannot check them now.

The earlier review also mentioned a large game library. It named slots, table games, video poker, scratch cards and live casino games such as baccarat and roulette. It said Betsoft supplied progressive jackpots and that Gaming Laboratories International tested the random number generator. Again, we could not confirm these details today.

The sign-up process was typical for an offshore casino. New players had to be 18 or older. They then had to send ID and proof of address before a withdrawal. Most sites you will meet today work in a similar way.

If you are looking for a similar experience today, focus on the basics first. Check the licence, read the bonus terms and test a small withdrawal early. This approach takes only a few minutes and can save you a lot of frustration later.

Is Online Casino Gambling Legal in South Africa?

The National Gambling Board says interactive gambling is illegal in South Africa, with the exception of online sports betting. Online casinos such as AfriCasino were offshore sites that accepted South African players. A rand account never meant that a site held a South African licence.

For a full explanation, read our guide to the rules for casinos in South Africa. We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice.

AfriCasino Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Accepted rand, according to our earlier review.
  • Offered an Afrikaans version of the site.
  • Offered a free-play option before real-money play, according to our earlier review.

Cons

  • The casino is closed and the old address forwards elsewhere.
  • No closure notice or closing date could be found.
  • It was an offshore site with no South African licence.
  • The offers in our earlier review are no longer available.

Why Online Casinos Close

Online casinos close for many reasons. Some lose their licence. Others are sold, merged into a larger brand or shut down by their owners. In many cases, the operator never explains what happened.

For players, the cause matters less than the timing. A closure can leave you with an unplayed bonus, a pending withdrawal or a balance you cannot reach. That is why it pays to withdraw winnings regularly. Do not leave large amounts sitting in any casino account.

We cannot say which of these reasons applies to AfriCasino. We can only report what we could see. The old address now forwards to another website, and no closure notice was found.

Warning Signs to Watch For

Closures rarely come without hints. Looking for these signs can protect your money in future.

  • Slow or missing withdrawals: Delays that grow longer each time are a red flag.
  • Support goes quiet: Live chat that is always offline, or emails that go unanswered, should worry you.
  • Games disappear: If big providers vanish from the lobby, ask why.
  • Offers stop: A casino that stops running promotions may be winding down.
  • The website changes: A new owner, a new name or a new address can mean a rebrand or a takeover.

If you spot two or three of these at once, consider withdrawing your balance. Then move to a site you have checked properly.

How to Choose a Replacement Casino

Switching casinos is a good time to be more careful. Use the table below as a quick check.

Check What to look for
Operator A named company and address in the footer.
Licence A licence number that matches the company name.
Rand support Deposits and withdrawals in ZAR, with clear limits.
Withdrawal rules Published processing times and minimum amounts.
Bonus terms Clear wagering, cashout caps and expiry dates.
Support A working phone number, live chat or email address.

It also helps to read about the sites that have no licence at all. Our page on casinos without licences explains why they carry extra risk.

Where to Play Instead

If you liked AfriCasino for its rand support, you have other options to read about. These reviews were refreshed in October 2026. Each one shows the operator, the licence and the bonus conditions.

  • Silver Sands Casino is a long-running Real Time Gaming casino with rand banking. Its review explains the free-chip rules and withdrawal limits.
  • White Lotus Casino offers a rand welcome bonus. Our review lists the wagering and cashout rules.
  • Apollo Slots is another site that accepts South African players. The review covers its banking and bonus terms.

You can compare more names in our list of South African online casinos. For newer brands, try our page on new gambling sites in South Africa.

Whichever site you choose, read the terms before you deposit. Our page on accepting online casino bonuses explains what to look for.

Final Verdict

AfriCasino has closed, and there is nothing left to claim or play. Its old address now forwards to an unrelated website. We could not confirm when it closed, who ran it at the end or why it shut down.

If you want to keep playing in rand, choose a site with a clear operator, a visible licence and bonus terms you understand. Set a budget first, and never gamble money you need for bills.
